Harley made these a few years back. Discontinued since. It's part 67680-91. I think two versions were made, one with a hole for the throttle cable, one without. I'd take either. If you have or know of one of these for sale, or could be, new or decent used, let me know. I know this is a long shot, but I've been looking for months and only found one. Didn't bid high enough on the Bay, and got sniped at the last 20 seconds. I know they make an ABS one, and I'll get one of those if all else fails. I have one now, it's on the bike, but the plastic is peeling off. Would rather get a steel one.

Sorry CD if this is the wrong place to post this, it looked the best to me.

    Thanks, Brent

If you're going to play on Ebay you need to know the rules.

Sniping a bid is where you jump the bid at the last possible second to keep people from running the price up.

It's also a great way to stop yourself from overbidding in the heat of the moment and paying too much.

www.esnipe.com is the place to go. sign up, buy some bid points they are cheap and then use it to bid, it will hold the bid until you tell it to like 20 seconds before end of auction. This is good because most end early in the am West Coast Time.

So if you want that Nacelle bid the most you want to pay and it will hit at the last second.

Others do it too but this is an advange you need.

Thanks CD! This is good, a place to also find or have others help to locate the harder to find stuff on some of the older bikes.....

HotRodRK, yeah, I've played the Ebay game for years, have 100% feedback, and know the rules. I was only starting to look for one of these things, and I bid over new price (if they were still available, I knew that they were not) figuring I'd get it. The guy that bid over me, I'm sure used one of those programs like Esnipe. Only had one other bidder, and he wasn't even in the running. Trust me, one comes up now, I know they are hard to locate, and I'm willing to pay more for it. If it is on Ebay, they may want it more than I do, but I will make sure they don't get it without paying for it......

Back to the subject at hand, as that's all hindsight from last spring...... anyone have one, even off a used bike, in decent shape? Thanks!

    Later, Brent

I haven't tried posting pics here, so let's see if this works. This is a small pic of one, it's a chromed plastic version. I'm wanting one like it, only the steel version. Many of the steel ones have Harley Davidson stamped in them (raised) on the lower area. These are getting really hard to find, I'm finding out now. When I first started kinda looking around, I heard they were rather rare, but I found one within about 10 days on Ebay. Thought to myself, "rare, huh?" and then figured I'd bid what I thought was fair. I got beat out by $2 on that one. That was back in April, been looking since, haven't seen one metal one since then......

Thanks for trying to help, Brent

Chuck, no it's a one piece unit. It is like a shell. It fits in front of that ugly pod for the speedo and tach they had on all the FLH style bike back in the 80's and on the FLHS until 1994 when the Road King came out. I've even kicked around trying to put one of the headlight housings on it like the old shovelheads had on the FLH up until 1984, but I'm not sure it will fit. It is just polished aluminum, but similar to the Road Kings Chrome ones. Only thing is, I'd have to come up with a speedo unit that could work off the front wheel, and would like it to have the lights in it for turn (could be one light, that flashes for either signal), High beam, Neutral, and Oil. I have an oil pressure gauge on it too, but is mounted off the pump and not as easy to read at speed. I don't trust the light alone, but it is nice to have more than one source for something that important.....

Chuck, that is the Harley part number (67680-91). It has been discontinued, not sure for how long. Chicago HD still had that part listed, but many parts they don't stock, they just order from Harley and re ship in the original HD box. Came back as discontinued there too, of course.

My local HD shop basically said I'll not likely find one at the dealer, only at a swap meet, or a shelf item somewhere collecting dust, or in someone's extra parts bin somewhere. Thought maybe with all the people here, someone might run across one.......

Hey CD. Do you know if the old aluminum headlight housing from the 70's thru 84 on the shovelhead FLH bikes will fit on my 1991? I know I'll have a few issues, but I'm thinking about mounting a speedo on the handlebars, maybe even use the Road King type mount for the mini tach, and put a speedo there. Since my bike has little chrome, and lot's of polished aluminum, I thought the older style would look cool on it. Thinking about doing it as a winter project. Any info you can give, appreciated.

Chuck, are you talking about the style like say a heritage would have? Only FL style, I'm sure from older bikes. I hadn't really considered that, but I always did like the old Shovel FLH bikes with the polished aluminum housing similar to the Road Kings. Even the ones that didn't get polished up, I liked. If one of those would work, I'd pick one up off ebay or at a swap somewhere. I'm sure I can fab in a speedo that will look right on this bike, provided it will fit.

Chuck and anyone else still looking..... I thank you for your time. I'm only asking you keep your eyes open for one. I may buy a plastic one, I am watching one on ebay now. That will get me by for awhile, but I'm still wanting to replace it with the steel one.

Chuck, I've been watching Ebay every 2-3 days for nearly 5 months, only saw the one back in March or April... none since. If there's none on Ebay in that lenght of time, you can imagine how scarce they are.

Thanks Chuck for looking, and all others too,

    Brent
