HELP PLEASE stage 1 upgrade ASAP

I am such an idiot.....I drilled out the wrong plug. I drilled out the plug that is on the left side of the carb towards the top. What did I drill out, and can I fix it without buying a new carb ?

no, I don't have a pic unfortunately. The best I can describe it....it's the opposite side of the throttle cable about half way up between the intake and the float. It's about a 3/8" size hole and it had a metal cap about 3/8" down inside the tube. I drilled a starter hole and threaded a screw into it and took a pair of pliers and popped it right out.

I think I found a way to plug it back up. I'm gonna try and find a way to get some J.B. Weld into the hole without getting it down into the holes leading to the carb. I just have to come up with a way to plug it off before putting in the JB Weld.

I have pics posted for my o3 carb I drilled out, if it had a plug your prob all right, post some pic's so we can see what you did. think it was posted as idle/mix screw plug

I wish I could post pics, but the digicam isn't working. The only other info I can give is that the tube is next to where the enrichner connects to the carb, except it's closer to the air cleaner side compared to the enrichner side. I don't know how universal the sportster service manuals are (between different years) but I found a picture of the carb, where you can see the tube sticking out. It's in the "storage" section of the 2005 manual, section 1.29 and page 1-58. If you look at where the enrichner connects to the carb, you can see the tube right behind it.

where at in Ohio, I might have a spare carb. If not swap meets. Not sure what ya drilled ut. but those plugs started getting thicker than just a little layer of metal. I drilled out one to get to the adjustment screw and it was about an 1/8 thicker than what I had ever dealt with before.

I'm in Mount Vernon, where are you ? I looked all through my service manual and I can't find anything related to the thing I drilled out. I'm afraid to try and start the bike to see what would happen......my luck, the darn bike would catch on fire ! I'm gonna call the Harley stealer tomorrow because I need to get a new gasket anyway....maybe they can tell me, and laugh at me for being a dumbass,lol.

I called the Harley dealer and talked to a guy in the service department. He said that he didn't know, but it sounded like I needed to buy a new carb............go figure !

Anybody know where Kenfuzed is ? Normally he is pretty quick to reply on the CV upgrade threads, but I haven't gotten a reply from him yet.

Standard stealer reply, don't write it off yet, but, if it is toast, Ebay or swap shop will have some for a decent price or if you want a new carb check thses out.

Thanks for the help Lucifer, I tried to fix it myself....we'll see what happens. I kept the plug/cap that I drilled out and I took some JB Weld and filled in the hole from the screw. I then put a thin coat of the weld inside the tube, put the plug/cap back in the tube, and then filled the tube up with some more weld. Hopefully I created a good seal, and I think it should work as long is there are no voids/holes for air or gas to escape. Do you know if NAPA autoparts carries gaskets for Harley's ? I was on their website and they do carry some Harley stuff, but I couldn't find any gaskets. I was hoping to fire the bike up tomorrow night, but I need a new intake gasket and the closest dealer is 45 min. away. Do any auto parts stores carry Harley stuff ?
