This is a 4.5 inch, forged alumimun riser from J&P Cycles. It is one week old. I hit a rough section of asphalt today and heard a metal sounding "plink" off the roadway (I was going about 15mph). I noticed when I removed the stock 1 inch risers that they were significantly heavier than the 4.5 in J&P risers. I also used new bolts that were recommended for these risers. Do you think they are chinese made??

Didn't even shop them. Went right to their book since they had photos (was looking for the pull back feature)).

That sucks....When shopping for risers for my Heritage a few years back, I discovered the aftermarket sucks...what you want to find is an older set from FXR's or at least ones that have the bolt holes drilled all the way through and a nut fits in the bottom like your stock risers, the one's with threaded blind holes are cheap and cheaply made(as you found out) and are very easy to strip(don't ask how I know:rolleyes:)
Deuce risers are good but your top clamp won't fit, you need the Deuce top clamps too.... OEM risers are the best to get

As you said "live and learn". I should have returned 'em when I felt the weight difference. It is now apparent that the screws they recommend only go about half the depth of the threaded hole. The stock/oem screws are too long. I suspect, fairly accurately, that there wasn't enough screw "bite" into the riser. A little strain from a rough road, and pop! I'm grateful only one failed and I didn't lose the bars and possibly a bone also!

they may be a good riser, if the correct length bolts are used..........i would contact them and see if they will replace.....and use the correct length bolts, or forget em all together and find an older oem set..........

I have used j&P a lot and I don't have really anything to say bad about them. I would give them a call and let them take care of the problem, or ask for a refund and you shouldn't get any arguments. I don't buy anything from J&P anymore, only because their shipping is OUTRAGEOUS!!!!
