Hey All!! Been busy! Have not had time (or good Internet connection). I changed jobs back in early November....went from being a liaison officer to being a nursing and PA clinical instructor. I am now teaching hands on clinical skills to the Afghan nursing students and Afghan PA students. My travels have been cut down to little and none, however I am off the Camp every day going to the Afghan Hospital/School for classes. There is a chance at one more trip sometime after the first of the year, but nothing confirmed yet. Thanksgiving has come and gone, Christmas is fast approaching. March/April is just around the corner, however it is still forever away. Sounds like the family is doing well back home...they will be traveling by Amtrack back to Iowa area to visit family over the holiday season. Should be a great adventure for them! They got wacked with about 20 inches of snow in the last 2 weeks of Nov, then had temps in the -20F for a week or so. Not sure what they have at this time. My internet still sux, but something is better then nothing. I have been moved to a tent pending a permanent room...been here for almost 1.5 months.... hopefully soon! with my move in jobs, I had my address change...oh joy! just one new adventure after another!

Hope you all have a great day/week/holidays!!

Good to hear from you AFNurse. A RN friend of mine just got back from Afganistan a couple of months ago. We're supposed to go back to Egypt in March or April. I work with the staff members at the American Mission Hospital in Tanta and have served as a consultant to one of the hospitals in Cairo. I was fortunate to be asked to design the new Operating Room wing for a hospital in Aswan. It should be completed by March or April so that is why we are going back at that time. We'll also probably check on the hospital at Maneuf. My wife works in the Special Needs School in Tanta while I am at the hospital. It's a wonderful thing that you are doing to teach people how to better their living conditions - within the means you have to work with. I have never been able to do the "touristy" things when I go to Egypt due to being so busy but this time WE ARE taking time out to do a NIle Cruise plus visit the Valley of the Kings and whatever else I can work in - plus check on the hospitals. The Egyptian people are very hospitable and appreciate whatever we can do to help them learn. Anyhow, as you can understand, I could go on all day and night about this kind of work. Just keep on doing what you're doing and stay safe. It's a toatally different world over there with a completely different set of rules - again as you know all too well.
