I want to build an hi-po Evo motor.
What year and what C.I. are good?
I think I will start with a S&S cases, natual finish. From Ebay or no?
I was thinking 96 ci but read that they run hot.
I heard some year cylinder heads are better than others.
    Anybody got any good advice?

Buy one from Jireh, 113 El Bruto, or if you got the nads, 127 shows up on front
porch, in box, bolts in, less out of pocket.

If you want to do a project SNS cases no doubt, but my guess is by the time
you buy all the bits, assemble, spec, fix, work, etc you'll be right on the money
with a box ready El Bruto, early ones were problematic but the later ones
make a butt load of power for the buck

Delkron are excellent cases ...but like HRK said it's cheaper now to buy a crate engine ... You can buy them unassembled and put it together yourself ...

Hey I like building stuff too but today
for the money and time and effort you
can't beat the crate engine, even the big
    boy builders go this route.

Stock evo can't go past 80 cui with stock cases

SNS, Delkron good stuff, but what happens is
unless you are really good and have the tools
you end up mixing and matching Joes crank
with freds cases, toms, cyl and pistons, billy bobs
badd ass heads, and you can end up with a nightmare
of parts mismatch and not much power or a weak
    engine.

I'd much prefer an SNS crate but the bucks are higher
short of that the ElBruto is your best bet, call them for
the price, and take the time to assemble a bad arse bike.
    from parts....

Are they made in the USA?
How much cheaper (% wise) are they than SNS?

Good question. I have been eyeballing a SNS 111 to replace my EVO when I blow it up again. This thing would set me back about 6G if I include the intelligent spark option. The 111 is for touring and has something like 100 ftlbs at 2250 rpms.

But what would a comparable El Bruto engine cost????

On another note, I googled billy bobs badd ass heads and got billy bobs badd ass pacifiers. Genius Idea.

    Billy Bob Pacifiers :roflmao:

With just a quick comparison on the motor case, Ultima is 30% cheaper.
I assume everything else is about the same 30% less, they would have to be to get people to change buying from tried and true manufactuers like SNS and Delkron.
Furthermore, I was under the understanding that RevTech and Ultima are Chinese products. Is it just the engineering is Chinese but the actual parts are "made" in the USA? I'm confused. I would rather spend more for an american motor.

I know! They call the 124 built for touring and I know 120 horses would be fun but you got to think about the tires, the belt, the clutch, the starter. It's more trouble then it's worth I think.

I just want something smooth, reliable, has 20% or 30% more torque at 2500 rpms then what I got now. And not break the bank.

The more power, the more broken parts.
I had a 103ci shovelhead that ran great. More power than I needed. Prolly around 100HP, kept breaking parts tho. I had to step it down to 93 ci to be dependable.
