Ok as stated in another thread I just moved to the Sao Miguel Azores and shipped my Scoot out with me from RI. Got a question for the Southern and high Humidity location Boys. I just built a garage for the scoot and of course it is all concrete and block, (typical building materials for European buildings) and the Island is very humid with one minute fog and drizzle and the next Sunny and dry. The temp is winter 55 degrees at night and 65 during the day, summer is in the very low 80s and 70s at night not much swing in temps during the seasons . The door I installed has 2 large vents in the top panel to move the air around and placed a fan inside and run it on low. I am noticed that I am drawing in the fog when it is running so I stopped it, but it did not change much, I even closed the vents for the winter, spring summer and fall are a bit drier when we visited here back when. I did have very minor issues back in RI that the bike was wet with humidity in RI but the next day was dry. My question is how do you protect the chrome and other metals so not rust. I read some where that WD40 or Waxing all the time, I also saw someone mention silicone spray but I am trying to get some solution to drying the garage out all the time, I guess I could run a dehumidifier 24/7 but looking for the best protection for the Bike. Any Ideas or thoughts?

All that waxing and WD 40 will be a pain in the ass...I would go for the dehumidifier...There not that expensive as I put one in my basement several years ago...It made a big difference...

We get a lot of moisture here in the Pacific Northwest and in my shop moisture will even collect on my tools inside my tool chest. So I leave the shop lights on and it is just enough to eliminate any moisture build up. Bikes stay dry to

    or I hear vaseline works...

A young man has always dreamed on owning a Harley Davidson. One day he has finally saved up enough money so he goes down to the dealer. After picking out the perfect bike the dealer warns him that if he leaves his Harley in the rain the chrome has a tendency to rust. He tells the young man an old biker's trick is to keep a jar of Vaseline handy and smear it on the chrome if the bike must be left out in the rain.

A few months later the young man meets a woman and falls in love. She asks him to come home and meet her parents over dinner. He readily agrees and the date is set. At the appointed time he picks her up on his Harley and they ride to her parents house. Before they go in she tells him that they have a family tradition that whoever speaks first after dinner must do the dishes.

After a delicious dinner everyone sits in silence waiting for the first person to break and get stuck doing the dishes. After a long fifteen minutes the young man decides to speed things up so he reaches over and kisses the
woman in front of her family.

And no one says a word...! Next he decides to take a more direct approach so he throws her on the table and has sex with her in front of everyone. And still no one says a word...!!! Now he is getting desperate, so he grabs her mother and throws her on the table. They have even wilder sex. But no one says a word...!!!!

By now he is getting very worried and is wondering what to do next when he hears thunder in the distance. His first thought is to protect the chrome on his Harley, so he reaches in his pocket and pulls out the Vaseline. And the father says, "Okay dammit, I'll do the dishes.

Well leaving the lights on in my shop works well. Get no moisture in or on the bike doing this. If I shut the lights off then moisture everywhere on everything. So works well for me.

Going to start leaving a light on see what that does, if not going to do the dehumidifier or combo of both see what works better. Thanks All
