    Received this from Chevrolet today,

    Dear Marc,

We are proud to announce we have repaid our government loan – in full, with interest, five years ahead of the original schedule. We realize we still have more to do. Our goal is to exceed every expectation you've set for us. We're designing, building and selling the best cars and trucks in the world. Like the award-winning Chevy Malibu, the all-new Buick LaCrosse, the versatile Cadillac CTS Sport Wagon and the innovative GMC Terrain, just to name a few. We invite you to learn more about the new GM and join our community, by visiting gm.com.

If I understand it right , yeah they paid the loan back but the government and the union are still about 60% owners of GM. So long as the Government and the union are share holders they won't be getting any of my business.

Well, you could go buy a runaway then file a law suite to boot.

We just bought a new Chevy Malibu, wife loves her new Red Malibu. Sure beats driving one of those runaways and wondering when is it going to happen and how in the hell do I stop it when it does.
Ford didn't have any good incentives when we bought it and the wife likes it. Me I still like my Dodge 6.7 diesel pickup.

    same thing up this way.

The loan's paid but the arrears on the pension plan is still out there. They're not out of the woods yet. I'm a Ford guy. Gm 's got some good stuff but I kind of like someone who toughs it out..ford's giving it a go. I lost a pile of money farming a bunch of years ago..there was the easy way out and then there was my way..paid every dime.

It appears as if more obamaslightofhand is involved in this

GM repaid the loads with additional TARP government funds
so they haven't done anything with earnings, no way they've earned enough.

Just so anyone that is a fan of this knows, the majority of the theft
of stock ownership of GM by Obamas administration, the UAW and Canada was a swap of stock for funds. They gave TARP money
to maintain payroll for all the union workers, then, bankrupted it,
took all the stock, gave a huge hunk to the UAW.

Read on if you want to know how dirty the deal is

Not saying the malibu isn't a good car, it is
been a gm fan forever, but after obamafication of GM

I canceled any plans of getting a new Camaro or
any GM, and Ive owned several

There are three fords in my Driveway, two with over 100K on them

Going to buy a fourth and get rid of the older Escort my daughter
drives... Me buying a Ford would be like asking an Earnhardt fan to Root for Gordon....

But I only will spend my money with the last USA Car company...

What can I say, the wife wanted the Malibu and its her car. Thank god she didn't want a runaway.
I personally would rather buy a Ford but have to say the Malibu is a pretty nice car. Go check out the new Mustang coming out, that, is going to be a great car with better HP and gas mileage than the new Camero.

Yeah but I have to get on the Atkins before
I get in either on LOL

Not picking on your choice, if GM wasn't obamafied
i'd be looking at a Malibu for my daughter or some other
    GM car...

GM is better than Rice LOL

Yep, HRK has it right. Just a BS job, as they paid off the government/our loan with government/our money from that BS TARP fund. By the way, that was only a teensy-weensy bit of the total bailout money they actually got - I think the real amount was over $60 billion. So just another smoke job by our so-called leadership.

Yea know if the government hadn't allowed the japs to use the USA as a dumping ground years ago for their cars the U.S. auto manufactures would probably be in better financial straights. Not to say they didn't do any thing wrong either. The Japs have never allowed the U.S. auto makers to come into their country and do to them what they were allowed to do here. Free economy, yea right only in the stupid USA.:rant:

The American mfg would be better off but I think us as consumers would still be driving cars that were designed to fail after 60,000 miles. I remember those days. The American mfg and the Unions screwed themselves.

I doubt that very much. There's nothing wrong with some competition but the japs flooded the market with cheap cars. Some of the old American cars to me are better and safer than the new stuff.

The first new car I ever bought was a 1970 Chevelle.....biggest piece of crap I ever owned until I bought my 1981 Chevrolet truck. It wasn't that they had so many problems but you could not get them fixed by the dealer because they were designed and built wrong. I finally got the truck pretty good by working on it myself but it was a constant struggle.
I have now owned a 2007 and 2009 Chevrolet truck. The '07 was a diesel and a great truck. It was more than I needed and I sold it and got the '09. I am more satisfied with it than any vehicle I have ever owned. It's perfect and I wouldn't change a thing. I do not like the fact that Obama is meddling in GM's affairs but I am convinced that they are building pretty good cars.
I do believe the Japanese competition forced the American car makers to improve their quality. They would have continued running the junk out for us to replace every two or three years. They almost waited too late to make the improvements and let the foreign makers get a good toehold on the market.

Cheap maybe at one time but aways more reliable. My first five cars were American. None made it past 50,000 without something major wrong with it. Forget about getting 100,000. I feel I was forced to buy Japanese because I just couldn't deal with the break downs. I have had four Toyota trucks all of which got 200,000 with nothing but reg maintenance. I will give a Ford F250 a try and I hope I don't regret it. Never a Chevy or a Dodge so long long as the gov or unions own it.
