Hooker pipes???????

Has anyone installed the Hooker 2 -2 long pipes on a twin cam?
I have heard these pipes on a twin cam and I like the sound, just wondering about the performance. I would like to put them on an 03 Heritage but I don't want to hurt performance. Any info would be appreciated.

With any modification to any stock exhaust system, you'll have to make adjustments to the rest of the system or you'll lose performance.

I had a set

I had a set of Hooker's Step-tuned Race Style Short Staggered Pipes on a 2001 Dyna Super Glide. I also went with the 1 7/8" muffler core and HSR42 with yost power tube. I loved the sound and performance of these pipes. For a stock 88", it was very quick and had very strong pull through the entire rpm range. I'm now trying to get my 2006 Road Glide's engine to perform as good as the Dyna did.



The 1st set of pipes I used was V&H Big Shots (before they came out with powerchamber). I removed them after three days. They were obnoxious and I lost low/mid range performance. With all the other pipes I have heard, I still liked the look and sound of the Hooker pipes better(but each to his own opinion). I installed the Hookers and wouldn't have traded them for any other set. I lightly used mothers chrome polish on them when they got something on them and they still looked brand new after 4.5 years.

I had the V&H Big shots and had all the carb work done plus the dyno slide. I just didn't like the sound of the big shots. I really like the sound of the Hooker's, just don't know about the performance.

I also had a set of V&H Big shots and I did not like the sound. I ran them for 10 miles and took them off. I really like the sound of the Hooker's that I have heard, I just don't know about the performance since they are straight pipes.

Basically, if they're drags that you are talking about, they are designed for throttle-wide-open performance. Lower end and mid-range....ehhh.
Although IMO I don't personally like 2-1's, they seem to be the best for someone looking for performance.
Go figure, there's a lot of makers out there. The choice is yours, but to answer your root question, I've never heard them. Usually though, if they're 2.00" drags, most have a similar sound.

Hooker Stepped Tune pipes

The stepped tuned Hookers have a choice of three baffles. The 1 7/8" muffler core, 1 3/4" (quite baffle) muffle core, and 1 7/8" competition core (more drag style). With the muffler cores you will get performance. My wife had a stock 2003 Dyna Low Rider. The performance of my Dyna was night and day compared to her stock Dyna and the increased HP & torque was very noticable. I would think you would get the same performance from the long style, providing you are going with the stepped tuned styles

The Hooker step tuned longs are the ones that I am considering. I think you just helped me make my decision.
