So, have the 2004 eglide. Stage one. Looking to upgrade from stock head pipes to V&H true duals and get the Thundermax with Auto-tune. Anyone know if the thundermax requires any advance "programing" or is it just a plug and ride type of thing? Know that once you get it going, it is supposed to be hands off for the most part.....or at least that is what I think! Anyone with first hand knowledge??? Let me know!

    Thanks!

It's pretty much plug and play. I have one on my 2002 Ultra Classic. I hook it up to my laptop and write the updates to the module about once a week depending on how much riding I do. It is making changes all the time when you ride. Cardboard is the expert on this, but it has really improved how my engine idles and runs. I wouldn't leave home without it.:roflmao:

Hold on to your money for a little bit,

TTS just announced a major new product upgrade
to it's self tuning software and you won't need
to spend the big TMax and Auto Tune bucks
    to get the bike done.

TTSMastertune rolled this out at the V-Twin Show (they have
been around longer in the EFI business than TMax)
and from what I've heard from tuners and users at the show
it's exactly what was needed to make the next big leap in
    self tuning...

TTS - MasterTune EFI Programming Software

Its a software solution that does the same stuff the
TMax does and no hardware to install or buy...

And about a 1/3 of the price...

YOu have to do a Base Map setup. Here is something that walks you threw it.
Or you can call Thunder-Max tech suppost and they will help you.
Make sure you have yer computer hooked up to the bike before you call them.

Make sure you check to see that Auto Tune is checked before you load the program

After you have loaded the program.
In the Thunder-Max Program go to Tmax Module Control Center and set it up to run.
The control center will auto tune yer bike.

If you need help. Talk to Pete or Pat in Sales or Randy in Tech Support.

It tunes itself. There are multiple parts. The new app allows you to input cam timing which determines exactly when injectors and ignition should fire. The others just get close

Sounds like it wants me to do a lot of things. More work for me.
I can't open a program up and sit down and figure out all those things.
You are more experienced in stuff like that. Me and a lot of other people has trouble figuring all that out.
I want to pick a map and let the unit tune itself.
If the timing needs changed I will change it on the Thunder-Max, or email my map to Randy at Zippers and let him do it. Their Tech Suppost is Free and all their maps are free.
The Thunder-Max is expensive but its got a lot of free behind it with everything.

If push comes to Shove and I can't git it right, I will call Zippers and ask if they know somebody that is good with their unit and take the bike to them and let them dyno it.

Same on tts free help. They will tweak maps. Timing etc

The big difference is you pay 2 times as much for a tmax.

It's like buyng a 20,000 truck and having to go out and paying 600.00 to buy a set of tires for it.
But you buy a 20,000 motorcycle and start crying cause you need to buy a good tuner for it.:banghead:
