Seems as I've forgotten how to hook up my horn and I'm asking for some advice here, boys.

I have a standard mini-horn with 2 connection points. I have a retro style button with 1 wire. There are no modules, just a simple hookup. I had it on before and it worked . . . I'm mounting the button on the handlebars and the horn beneath the tranny - out of sight but not out of hearing.

You should put in a relay, that way the button is working the relay and draws little power to make the circuit, and the horn will be direct powered by the battery this is easier on the button.

You can get these at any parts store cheap, it's called a 40amp 4 pole relay, they look like this

You should have a ground wire to frame from the horn to one of the tabs
The other tab should run to switched power from the relay
From the battery you run a hot wire to the relay to the on power tab
Then you should have the power running from the switch on the bar to the relay to activate it.

Here is a diagram, you obviously won't have the compressor but the principle
    is the same
