Hot exhaust

    hi all i need help with a problem that has developed on my 92/93 fxrs the front cylinder runs very hot i meen hot exhaust header pipe glows red with an occasional back fir when powering on any help would be appreciated cheers zak:gah:the only modifications are custom pipes without balance ! but why so hot on one pot

    Betcha the custom pipe installation messed something up & the mounting/seals to the heads you definitely need to check. But it sounds more like an intake manifold leak - especially where the manifold meets the heads.

    thanks for that but would that make just front pot run hot ? what are you sugesting carb may be sucking air at manifold ? thanks respect. zak

    the intake attaches to both heads. if one of the attachments develope a leak, it will make that cylinder run hot. the rear seal may still be good. i would remove both and replace both. a way to tell if it is leaking is to get some wd 40 with the red tube on the nozzle. start the bike and spray around one intake, then the other. if the engine idle changes, wala!!!! there is your leak. try to keep the vapors from entering the aircleaner.....let us know!!:)
