    Hey Guys (Newbie Here) :)

Check this I ~ I tried it and it REALLY WORKS ;)

I had to siphon the out of my gas tank; had to clean gas petcock mesh filter and lines and carburetor.

I hated the thought of SUCKING the gas out the tank and most of the gas in my mouth :roflmao:

Here's a GREAT TRICK to avoiding having a mouth FULL OR GAS :witsend:

Get two hose 1/4 I.D. is O.K. larger if you want.
One hose long enough to get right into the gas in the tank.
The other hose is shorter ~ put both in gas tank. But DON'T let the shorter one
    touch the gas at all.

Now when both hoses are in your gas tank COVER the gas tank hole completely with one hand as best as you can ~ trying to create a closed seal.

Put the longer hose end into whatever catch container you have to catch the gas.
Now BLOW into the shorter hose that doesn't touch the gas at all.

You're creating A VACUMN and watch the gas COME RIGHT OUT THE LONGER HOSE INTO YOUR CONTAINER.

    Check out my attachments.

Hope that helps any your guys that have helped me out so much on this great forum ;)

I generally just close the petcock, take the hose loose from the carb, open the percock and drain into a container.

Looks like a good idea though.

Good idea, will have to try that if I ever have to drain another tank. Did it last year on my Springer when I pulled the tank off. I just clamped off one cross over at the front and made a short one with a wooden golf tee for a plug on the other side and pulled the hose off. Got some gas on the floor, not a lot. Put the plugged one on the open side and then pulled the tank off and set it up outside. Then attacked a longer hose to the one I clamped off, released the clamp and drained the entire tank.

I hope you dump that gas in that clear container into an approved gas container. :) Good job. :)

    Hey All You GUYS :)

After over 4 years of my Harley laying up in the back patio and me layed-up
with one cancer kidney out of my body and recovering well now.

I thought so much about getting my Harley in the wind. And for an old man like me that doesn't really know that much about engine. I figured there goes $$$$$$
to the Harley Dealership ~ But then . . .

I turned to this forum and found such a GREAT BUNCH of GUYS :):)

This morning 09/01/'11 After taking all your great suggestions for what to do with:
    Pistons,maybe a ceased motor,dirty gas filter, dirty gas,dirty carburetor.
All those things you guys taught me what to do and what steps to take FIRST.

After going through school with you great guys; I put the Harley up on blocks like you suggested in order to go thru the gears; Now the moment of TRUTH. I hit the starter and B A N G ! ! ! She started up in a second, man you should have seen the look on my face.

So with the ending of this novel ~ but your not ever getting rid of me YET ;)

I want to peronally shout out to a certain guy: BAGGERPAUL, Thank you Paul for taking the time to baby sit me and bring my Harley to start.

And ALL the rest of you GREAT GUYS - 4 - CARRYING ME THROUGH ALL THE PROBLEMS WITH MY HARLEY. ITS BECAUSE OF GUYS LIKE YOU ON THIS FORUM THAT MAKE IT A GREAT FORUM ~ " THANKS SO MUCH "
