The time is really close that I will be going to get my carry permit. I am curious how the good folks of Bike-Talk choose to carry their weapon? As of right now, I am leaning towards a shoulder holster. Thanks.

That is a real personal issue for some...Some like to cary on their waist and some the shoulder...Try both and go with what is most comfortable for you

IWB forward cant, above my right rear pocket most of the time. I do wear a OWB if cold and wearing a coat.

Depends on how big your carry piece is. If your gonna carry a big 1911 than a shoulder holster is a good choice with a jacket or shirt covering it but not buttoned or zipped up otherwise it's pointless. Same with a IWB but with a long shirt untucked you can at least pull it up to draw. Hickok45 wears it this way and works out very well. Hope that helped.

I plan on carrying my Colt New Agent. Not 100% concerned about complete concealment as I don't have to conceal in Minnesota.

JMO even though open carry is legal, it's not advisable

    1) it makes you a target for dumbasses both anti gun and thieves
    2) it does intimidate and scare anti gunners who then complain
    and stir up the press.

There was a guy that attacked a carry person in a wal mart
shouting out he's got a gun help me help me! Everyone helped
jump on the guy, beat him, took his gun.

Turns out the shouter was an anti gunner from one of the crusades
against guns orgs. Saw the guy in parking lot with carry, and pulled
    off the attack.

The guy with a gun was a customer, doing nothing wrong,
got attacked. Too bad he didn't shoot the dumbass attacket

Point being outta sight out of mind...

A good galco with a forward cant on the right or left hip.

Don't like the kidney carry position

Try out a Remora holster for IWB no clip holsters
    and not expensive

    http://www.remoraholsterstore.com/

IF you do open carry, get a retention (snap top) you
don't want your gun pulled out from your holster

I know a lot of LEOs. None carry open off duty. Perps see gun, see the guy they need to take out first and then gain another gun.

Was at a truck stop along I-5 on Saturday and a guy came in with a revolver strapped to his side. He got a lot of looks and we watched to see if anyone objected. No one actually seemed to care but if this happened in Portland the cops would be all over him and bet he would have been arrested.
I always carry concealed for many of the same reasons that HRK stated.

When riding I always carry in a vest with a gun pocket.

IWB or pocket holster in jacket pocket if wearing a jacket. I agree with the carry concealed to keep the liberals quiet.

Maybe not quite that far, but close. I find it prints less and still easy to get to with a little practice. We have open carry in La. also but agree with HRK about not doing it makes people nervous and gives the cops a reason to harras you.

Got a Kimber Ultra Carry II and the Dan wesson ECO.
Both pistols has a steel slide and aluminum frame.
    Both weight 25 oz empty.
I got a N82 and a Galco professional IWB holster.

The weight of your pistol will dictate how you carry and how long.
And it may dictate if you go buy a gun belt to help handle the weight.
Its hard for most to carry a full steel pistol all the time.

Hard to beat a Alloy and polymer frame pistols for carry.

About the open carry. I don't plan on open carrying but there is a lot less of me so my options are fewer. Not as easy to conceal. My point was aimed at (no pun intended) that if my weapon does show a bit, I can do so without breaking our laws. A shoulder holster would be the easiest way for me to carry because of my size.
