So what your saying is that it appears the japs only have a hand in one piece, the shocks while most and all of the major components are USA. :D

I think that this is great. There is a guy at work that always says that HD's are not American because of the narrow margin between the percentage of what is made in U.S. and what it is not. This somewhat dispels that argument. :D

Leather clothing and foot wear must not be selling that well for HD to be shifting production back to USA.

This is a reply on it.

Maybe HD is getting smart - Last month both CAT and IBM announced closure of Chinese plants due to "patent theft" and poor quality/construction.

Don`t know about IBM but CAT announced the replacement plant will be built in Texas - I`m thinking the tide is slowly turning and these big companies are waking up the the quality issues in China.

I'm on the Harley survey each month. A while back they had a survey about their clothing and where it is made. I know for me I told them that most don't like buying cloths with Made in China on it and said I would be willing to pay a bit more to see Made in the USA on it. So maybe they are listening.

I recently bought a new leather vest and bought one that is made in the USA. The quality is so much better than the ones made overseas and have to use an awl to put a hole in it just to put a pin on it, leather is way thicker and heavier duty.

I really liked what you said about the clothing, and I would agree that I woul too like to see that it be made in the USA. I am not sure if I completely agree that the it would be better quality though. I look at mine, have used mine extensively here in the last few months and there are no issues.

In fact, I just bought my wife, Hot Rider her leather tonight and I think that it is better than mine and it is made in the same place.

Do you think that deflation is among us??

I didn't buy a Harley vest cause all of there's has a HD emblem on the back of it. I needed a vest with a clean back on it so I could sew my new chapter patches on it. I got promoted to the Chapter Treasure position and the wife wanted me to retire the old worn vest. I personally like the old one but she insisted. So I went to Loves outpost in Vancouver WA. and all of the made overseas vests were cheap. The USA brand they had was very well made and better than the Harley vests. The made in china or Pakistan vests were really thin. And, I prefer made in the USA:)
