If you were building a BIG DISPLACEMENT engine, how would yo go about it? Would you obtain the displacement through stroking or rather through case boring and installing big ass jugs?

My definition of Big Displacement is anything over 110 CI. Would you want this engine as a cruising engine or a flat out hold on to your pants and hold on type bike? A straight line bar hopper?

I am just curious as to what methods each would use and why.

I like big bore short stroke gives me more piston skirt . a little more forgiving for thrust side of the bore . the longer the stroke the less over all skirt is left but that's just me ?

Ok, so then you would rather use a 4.375 bore and a 4" stroke to obtain a 120" engine? With your preference, are you trying to keep the piston from slopping around by keeping it all in the hole? I am assuming that with the longer stroke, the bottom of the piston comes out?

nope what im stating is that I have the most cubes with the shortest stroke possible to obtain the largest cubic inches . lets take this for thought . if I can build a 4.3/8 stroke motor with the biggest bore possible after case bore and smaller piston jets to clear the piston and make 150 . and a snappy motor . why take it to 4.5/8 with a smaller skirt piston that will make the same power and not last as long and wont have as snappy throttle response . the in vestment that I make must last for me and give me good service . big bore short stroke last longer .

Ok, so you would rather have a 4.375" bore and a 4" stroke over a 4.060 " bore and a 4.625" Stoke and run smaller oil jets?

4.125 4.3/8 stroke 20 deg dome piston a set of 2 inch intake 1.650 exhaust 0.30 quench heads reverse dome center . for a 10.1 compression . fueling 574 cams thunder header exhaust . that should do it rip your arms from the handle bars and carry to the right . hello ! that will make a well prep 120 cry!

Ok, so you say that 110 which is what the math comes out to for displacement on a squared build like that. What cc heads is that? Roughly that is 9.6 corrected compression, with those cams.

    Naughty. Shouldn't do that.. LOL:roflmao:

better do the math again on ci . 113 would be 4.060 bore - 4.3/8 stroke. im talking 4.125 bore - 4.3/8 stroke

:roflmao::roflmao: I have no idea why I saw .125" :roflmao: Funny, when I was playing around with calculator, I was a little more attracted to the 117". Not necessarily those cams. :D

those cams hit hard off the bottom . or 292-6gd crane would be my next choice if I got crazy with it and set it up at 11.1
