    Those are flares used to confus heat seeking missiles. I have send the video of this and it is really impressive. It's part of the defense systems.

    The smoke is not normally that bad, they would only fire them off one at a time and there would be very little smoke. The smoke is from the explosive charge to fire them out of their canisters.

    the smoke is curling like that from the "wash" from the plane,,,makes it swirl. when they fly close to water they can create the same effect......

    I didn't notice it until HOT01 pointed it out - but it does look like a Eagle behind the planes.

    I thought it was the angle of death back there, guess an eagle works too! Sort of like a ink blot test with smoke.
