Sylvannia Silverstar H4 for the main head light

    H3ST for the passing lamps

about $19 a bulb, wall mart, autoparts stores etc.

Unless you have that dual bulb headlight like the cvos then it's different

but for Stock HD reflectors with the changeable bulb

If you have the sealed beam bulb you'll first need to replace it with a bulb housing that accepts H4 bulbs.

The Newer HD's already have this, you can get the new HD Reflector headlight it's a very good unit with one of the best reflector design patterns or Kuryakyn etc.

try gothidzenon.com 'hid isn't legal but everybodies using them anyway. You just have to know what kind of bulb you need since their bulb finder only lists autos. The 10,000 is the brightest. That's what I got and I don't see anyone failing to see me coming anymore.

be careful with 100/100 bulbs in HD they can overheat and burn up wireing harnesses, Your's may not but more often than not they will.

The Silverstars will do what you want

You can put HID bulbs in but you have to get the ballast etc and wire it in, hide the ballest etc, Also HID is brighter but if your reflector isn't made for HID then it's never going to put out the light volume or pattern (not that the one you have guitarman isn't brighter) that it should.

just keep an eye on it, over time the wires may not be able to hang with the draw of the bulb...

    first thing I changed

After getting blasted by an old lady pulling out in front of me with an estimated 18 to 20 yards to react, the first thing I change is the front headlight bulb. I use a PIAA powersport bulb for my headlight Extreme White H4 60w/55w.
It is anti vibration and brightest bulb I saw out there. So at the time I found out about them then got one. The shop where I picked it up even said that was an awesome bulb and had started using it on their rides. The heat issue is not a problem, as far as melting the harness inside the housing.. It puts out limited heat versus light. It has been in there now for a couple years.
i got an 02 HD wide glide. But I bet they carry others.

    Hid

you're right Hotroadking, the HID is gonna have to come out as it shines everywhere, high, low and all around so that I really was blinding oncomers. Good thing I was only riding daylight hours mostly. Think I'll try the PIAA's next.:(
