All the SE module does is raise the rev-limit & to the best of my knowledge, that didn't change in '04. It's always been a direct replacement & the advance curves were the same, so now it'll just be easier to bend pushrods, collapse lifters & do other fun things like that.

The versions I'm aware of are 6800 & 7500 rpm - both of which are too high for any Sportster engine without MAJOR modifications. To make the engine live @ 7500 would cost as much as a new Sportster (I've got more $$$ in my race engine than both street Sportsters combined). You can go above 6000 for brief periods of time, but without modifications, you're going past the power peak & slowing down anyway, so it doesn't make sense.

Only thing about the SE modules is they seem to sell for much less than the stock one - as little as 1/2, so if you need a new module & you watch the tach, you save $$$. But last I heard, H-D was discontinuing even selling them, as well as numerous other SE parts, like slip-on mufflers - EPA, local noise ordninaces, etc. being the reason.
