i have an 84' softail that needs new shocks. new ones are 300-500 bucks. i found some at a swap meet that were for a 89 up softail for really cheap. what is the difference in those and the 84-88 shocks? (besides the resevoirs) can you make em' work? something must be different(i think) because anywhere that sells softail shocks has different listings 84-88, and 89-99, and 2000 up. know anyone who's done this? any ideas?

can you help a poor guy save a buck?
