What are some causes for intermittent back firing with Hi- compression motors. Mine has done it twice during maybe 50 or so starts, I have a 117 and 10: 8 comp, The fuel octane is 91. I sometimes add 4 oz of boost with 6 gal of fuel. The bike runs good and plugs look good with approx 150 miles on them.

A little unburnt fuel in the exhaust pipe can ignite and sound like a shotgun blast out of the muffler, happened to me a couple of times, carb was set a little rich, scares the hell out of anyone close by...also check for an exhaust leak.
