Is it just me

Can't seem to bring myself to embrace this idea of "throttle by wire" concept. i like having those cables, they're like the arteries of the bike running down to the heart. this wire thing just isn't natural. besides that they look good. they just belong there

The thing that bugs me is that you're depending on the electronics. I'd much rather have something like the throttle, which can be kinda hairy if it screws up, have a mechanical connection that I can see.

Not just you. It gives me the creeps, too. uke: Not interested at all in that technologic advance. Heck, I don't even like having electronic ignition "points" instead of the ol' fashioned kind, but I'll put up with that.

It don't bother me as much as brake by wire. I remember GM was talking about future cars having brake by wire. Not sure if that is available yet.

Ah the good old days....tweek the carb, new points and plugs, give her a couple kicks and roll down the road!

I've contributed a small hair elastic for throttle return. I guess it was handy to have the ol' lady there that day! I learned it from husband #1 and passed the trick on to husband #2. Didn't tell #2 though. Just a "Wow! I have this great idea..."

One word: SCARY

Leave the computers in the cars and leave my bike alone. I don't mind the minor, relatively easy electronic stuff like an ignition module or something but I want to FEEL the cables getting stiff when they need lubing or replacing.

I mentioned this in another thread. A friend of mine bought a new Road King which has a proximity chip in the key so you can't start it unless you are within a couple of feet of it. My Shovel head buddy's comment: "How the hell do you figure out THAT when it breaks?"

Keep it simple. Leave the fancy shmancy stuff to the yuppy bikes.

My old 86 Geezer Glide is just rite enough electronics to be covenant , but not like you shovel riders that have to keep cam weights points and entire snap on tool box to go on a trip :roflmao: . All tho I wouldnt mind havin cruse control . Fuel,Fire= Run not 10,000 worth of diagnostic computer to tell you why she dont go!

I like my shovelhead and working on it is half the fun

Not dissen yall a lot of my Friends and Fam ride shovels and pans Im just saying I dont care for all the computer stuff there puttin on these days electronic ignition is not computerized. come on if there is 15 or 20 bikes going on a long trip which we have done havin to stop and let someone change points or cam weights every 150 or 200 miles am I all wet here or is it just the ones I ride with that have to do this? I dont like any thing I cant work on either
that the whole point if you dont have a 10,000 scanner your at the mercy of the stealership to get you home and its gettin worse I ll hush now!!!:gah:

My buddies Shovel has a Morris Magneto. Although he does have to change his points every so often, it has never left us on the side of the road waiting for him to change them. We do have to push start him every so often though if he doesn't get the starting combo just right. His is kick only.
