Who the hell actually voted for this idiot????

    UNBELIEVABLE, UNACCEPTABLE, OUTRAGEOUS!

HERE IS OBAMA'S RESPONSE WHEN HE BACKED OFF FROM HIS DECISION TO LET THE MILITARY PAY FOR THEIR WAR INJURIES.

WHAT AN OUTRIGHT SOCIALIST HE IS!

Bad press, including major mockery of the plan by comedian Jon Stewart, led to President Obama's abandoning his proposal to require that veterans carry private health insurance to cover the estimated $540 million annual cost to the federal government of treatment for injuries to military personnel received during their tours on active duty. The President admitted that he was puzzled by the magnitude of the opposition to his proposal.

"Look, it's an all volunteer force," Obama complained. "Nobody made these guys go to war. They had to have known and accepted the risks. Now they whine about bearing the costs of their choice? It doesn't compute."

"I thought these were people who were proud to sacrifice for their country, "Obama continued. "I wasn't asking for blood, just money. With the country facing the worst financial crisis in its history, I'd have thought that the patriotic thing to do would be to try to help reduce the nation's deficit. I guess I underestimated the selfishness of some of my fellow Americans."

    WHAT??????????

Please pass this on to everyone including every vet and their families whom you know.

How in the world did a person with this mind set become our/anyone's leader? Can he be trusted not to implement this kind of thinking in a 1000+ page health care bill that nobody bothers to read or into which a provision such as this might be slipped at the last minute?

    I didn't vote for him!

    REMEMBER THIS STATEMENT...

"Nobody made these guys go to war. They had to have known and accepted the risks. Now they whine about bearing the costs of their choice?"

If this person thinks he will ever get another vote from an Active Duty, Reserve or National Guard service member or veteran of a military service, he ought to think it over. If you or a family member is now serving or has served our country, please pass this to them.

Here is an email I received this morning it is right along the same lines as whatcardboard has said. watch the vido.

YouTube - We The People Stimulus Package

This guy's video on you tube has been so popular that Obama called him
personally. He said that he was very disturbed with the video and invited
him to the White House. Obama also said he wanted the
White House to handle the Press and not to talk about the video or the White House visit.

Watch it now. This may be the best
six minutes invested in your future.

Kinda like the last how many Presidents? As long as we only have two dip****s to choose from, who are chosen by the problem for us to choose from we are in a world of deep crap. I didn't vote for America's latest halfbreed figure head, but then again I didn't vote for the other dip**** either. Didn't have to, I knew WV wouldn't go Obama no matter how much welfare MTV generation we have. A vote for the lesser of two evils is still a vote for

    According to Snopes.com:

"This item is certainly false in the literal sense that President Barack Obama did not utter the words attributed to him above * * * nor did he propose a plan to 'let the military pay for their war injuries.' However, it contains enough truth that it couldn't be fairly dismissed as completely false."

    See:

snopes.com: Barack Obama on Veterans' Health Insurance

Regarding that & wvak47's comments, including:

"A vote for the lesser of two evils is still a vote for "

I'll have to say I'm afraid the only way the general public is going to wake up is for the economy to completely crash & Obama will do that faster than McCain. It's not a matter of IF it will happen, it's just a matter of WHEN & the sooner we get it over with the better. Otherwise, we leave it to our children / grandchildren.

Have a look @ the real-time "Debt Clock":

U.S. National Debt Clock : Real Time

Need to look @ each category, but one way to sum it up is that your "fair share" of the Nat'l. Debt is $262,741 as I'm typing - watch how fast the numbers go up.

That doesn't include any new "healthcare" plan, which would add an estimated $1.3 - $1.8 Trillion to the debt - not counting interest. Note also that last September, Gov't. spending exceeded the total net worth of every household in the U.S. combined.

All the arguments in CONgress now amount to is how to rearrange the deck chairs on the Titanic - it's too late to turn the ship around & we'll have to build a new one. We still have the blueprint though - the Constitution.

I am in complete agreement with you Art. The general public are freakin' under educated in things that matter. Our public indoctrination institutions have proven well implemented in destroying the average America's ability to read, think, reason, conclude, re-evaluate, adjust, and implement changes, reaching final resolution of fixing problems. Most graduated fools will claim America is a democracy (read mob rule) which was never a founding principle of this nation. So many half truths and lies have been repeated for so long they have become the norm and accepted way to think (for the democracy anyway).

As for having a good Blue Print, we have the best. However we have far too few scattered far too wide to use said Blue Print to build anything worth having. America has become lazy, greedy and far too selfish as a community and until that backbone is broken all the Best Laid Plans will never succeed. For the Titanic reference, my suggestion is it is about time to learn to swim in shark infested waters.

How’s that phrase go? A government big enough to give you everything you want is also big enough to take away everything you have.

Another good reason to get rid of the Electoral college and start having a popular vote - the guy with the most marbles wins.
Also wouldn't hurt to clean out congress and get some fresh blood with a good knowlege of how the constution works and how it was meant to work. Not some polititions idea of how it will work for him and his special interest group that pays him or her off.
If the people of this nation don't get off their collective asses and stop this problem soon, we are not gonna have a country left.

The actual wording quoted above evidently came from Jon Stewart as political satire (which he's good at) & as Snopes said, even though Obama didn't use those exact words, there's enough truth to the overall statement that it couldn't be dismissed as completely false. As to Snopes being "politically motivated", here's an article called "Fact-checking the fact-checkers":

    Fact-checking the fact-checkers: Snopes.com gets an 'A' | NetworkWorld.com Community

Turns out the people who started/own/run Snopes.com, David Mikkelson & his wife Barbara, could hardly be considered under the control of Obama or the Democrat party - David is registered as an Independent voter (previously as a Republican), his wife is a Canadian citizen who can't vote in the U.S. & there's no evidence of any money or influence over them coming from any political group. From the article:

< Do the Snopes.com articles reveal a political bias? We reviewed a sampling of their political offerings, including some on rumors about George W. Bush, Sarah Palin and Barack Obama, and we found them to be utterly poker-faced. David does say that the site receives more complaints that it is too liberal than that it is too conservative.>

I have found a few errors on the Snopes site in a couple areas, but the errors weren't due to political bias, they were due to the fact that I know more about the specific topic because I've done a LOT more research. The article also comments:

< Incidentally, the Mikkelsons make no claim to infallibility and insist that their highest objective is to help convince people to think critically about what they hear and read ... and to do their own fact checking.>

I say the basically same thing all the time - don't take my word for it, look it up. And I wouldn't expect anyone to know everything about every rumor floating around, so I don't consider Snopes to be the absolute "last word" on anything, but I have found the site to be a valuable resource & if nothing else, to get started looking in the right direction.

Although the Electoral College has been misused for MANY years, there are good reasons for it:

    1. The U.S. is NOT & was never intended to be a "democracy". See, e.g., The Federalist, No. 10, by James Madison, the primary author of the Constitution:

"From this view of the subject it may be concluded that a pure democracy, by which I mean a society consisting of a small number of citizens, who assemble and administer the government in person, can admit of no cure for the mischiefs of faction. A common passion or interest will, in almost every case, be felt by a majority of the whole; a communication and concert result from the form of government itself; and there is nothing to check the inducements to sacrifice the weaker party or an obnoxious individual. Hence it is that such democracies have ever been spectacles of turbulence and contention; have ever been found incompatible with personal security or the rights of property; and have in general been as short in their lives as they have been violent in their deaths. Theoretic politicians, who have patronized this species of government, have erroneously supposed that by reducing mankind to a perfect equality in their political rights, they would, at the same time, be perfectly equalized and assimilated in their possessions, their opinions, and their passions."

    2. The country is way too big to be a democracy & to elect the president by popular vote. And as we have seen, there are MAJOR problems getting a correct vote count even @ the county level - it would be impossible nationwide.

    3. The idea of the Electoral College is for State legislatures to chose electors, NOT political parties. And originally, U.S. Senators were elected by the legislatures to represent the States - House members elected by the public to represent the public. That's why 2 Senators per State regardless of size; the number of House members depends on the State's population. But the 17th Amendment (1913) changed that & popular vote for Senators has ruined the separation of powers between the 2 Houses.

Nothing wrong with the Electoral College concept, but plenty wrong with how it's been manipulated.
