    Hey Guys,
I own a Kymco CK125, I just started riding on the road June last year.
Today I went out started my bike up. the usual steps, keys, choke for about 5 seconds to get it started... I let it idle for about 3 minutes and while it was doing that I turned the idle up just a fraction. I then rode the bike about 100feet... the engine just just off, had all electronics going still though.. I walked the bike home, I did some reading and I can only start it now if I pull the throttle, the bike won't idle... I check my air filter and it was full of gas! the tube under the filter that I followed back to the gear chambers was full of fuel.. I am not sure what it should look like though, I rode it about 20 feet once I had it started and it was really sluggish with gear changing... I am stumped... all this can't be from a tiny turn of the idle screw can it? Help and information is much appreciated, I would like to have an idea of what may be wrong before someone rips me of when I get it repaired... I also have no idea now what the idle pin is set at as I adjusted it back and forth but the bike won't idle so I don't know... thanks guys, also I know the bike is crap and I should expect these things to happen, still saving for my next bike. Cheers! :)

The carburator float is probably stuck. My 125 (which shares the same carb as many other 125s) had the same problem. Mine was from rust that formed around the gas cap on the tank, but is could also just be old gas or some other crap that found its way through the filter.

One way to deal with it is to rap on the carb with a wrench or the handle of a screw driver a few times and see if it falls. But if you have debris in there it will not always work. The best way is to pull the carb and clean it out. It really is pretty easy, but it sure helps to have a diagram. You can get one by doing a search for the carb online. Most 125cc engines use the same or similar carb to the Suxuki DRZ125 (from my experience), so use that as a search starting point.

Good luck and let us know how it goes.

Also, a key diagnostic aid is if it will run full choked (poorly, but run) but die when off choke (technically, not a "choke" but on the enrichener, but hopefully you know what I mean).

I tapped the carb a few times to no avail, with the the enricher well it won't start without that on I've noticed and when I turn it down the engine just stops,.. the carb is in a tight spot .. I'm not sure how to get it out, had a look for a carb diagram this... also I have to turn the idle pin a bit to get it to a point where it will start each time I have started it I've had to move it... very new to bike mechanics...

That's how you learn your bike, by getting your hands dirty....go for it and tear that carb off. :D

There is a screw just above the bottom of the carby when I turn it it starts dropping fuel ... should this happen and if so should I dump the fuel before I take the carb out.. could dumping that fuel possibly fix it?

That is your call, but I'll say that the sooner that you learn to deal with that carb float issue (which I am 99.9% certain is your problem - IF you have good gas in the tank) the better. I don't know where you ride, but I've got my KLR125 float stuck after a minor tip-over in the dirt when I was about 35 miles from anywhere, and the ability to deal with the problem was critical.

Draining the carb won't help until you can get the float right, but it may help if you drain it, rap it with a tool to reseat the float, then try starting - if you hadn't done that already.

I'm not sure what you mean by " rap it with a tool to reseat the float " ?

    Here's a parts catalog...

    CK 125 - RA25EH

I went through it and found your carb....it's the same as this one....

    Chinese Scooter Reference

and here's a link...jetting and Understanding your CV

    http://www.chinesescooterreference.com/pdf/Jetting_and_Understanding_your_CV_Carburetor.pdf

If it's still under warranty,I'd do like cowboy said, take it in and get them to explain what was wrong with it and listen to them...also get a service manual if you're going to be doing the maintenance on it....good luck...let us know what you find:D

I now agree with cowboy and Lucifer - take it back to the shop and get the real repair info from them. After rereading, I have to wonder why you were adjusting anything without a fuller understanding of the carb's function and construction - while admitting that 35 years ago I did a lot WAG tinkering on my first bike that was, in retrospect, pretty darn nuts.:banghead:

You should mention that you did adjust the idle when you take it in.

    Good luck!

Yeah, tell them what you did to it. You may have made it worse LOL. It would be important for you to pump them for info on what the problem was. Some shops are helpful that way . . . others, not so helpful. Won't hurt to ask.

Get a service manual. Best tool in your arsenal.

It's going in today and I adjust the idle because I noticed it wasn't in time, I only turned it like 2mms though, I told them how the air filter was full of fuel and about the idle they said they pretty much knew what it was and it would be a quick fix, we'll see I'll have an update in 8 hours :) I just hope like hell I didn't void the warranty!

Okay so they have had it for 2.5 hours today, they managed to get it running but they said it's not sounding right/working right ... So it's 940pm in Australia.. I really hope whatever it is.. they don't need to order a part... last time I needed a gasket and it took two weeks!.. So all I have is that it's idling but not working right.. I'll update again tomorrow when they have had a better look :)

Okay so I got a few details, I'll find out exactly what is going on once I get it back.. they said that fuel is leaking into the engine apparently, so they are ordering in a seal, they said a seal was broken, you guys might know what seal and where... I tell ya, I won't ever buy a cheap bike again brand new... so far I had the exhaust cover vibrate off, a screw in the clutch pack become loose when they fixed that they didn't put the gasket back on right and it took about 10 days to get a new gasket oh and as I was loading the bike on their ute I noticed the bolt that holds the rear brake lever on was undone... the nut was gone... so If it's not already known to people just starting with road bikes.. do not get the kymco ck125 >.< no wonder it has a 2 year warranty! I think I might clean the bike up and sell it for a grand.... get a second hand bike
