Only for the young....this old body can't do 1000 miles back to back any more and don't want to. Those roses are smelling pretty good anymore.

I did 750 miles the 1st day last year on the ride to Big Bend state park.
Over 4 days we did like over 2300 miles.

A lot has changed in the last year too.

To put that many miles on in that short of time is crazy, but I guess that is die hard. I have thought to myself that before I die, I would like to travel the country, on a bike, and with my wife. Not for money though, sounds like that get a little dangerous and stupid.

Love that one pic of the road, sheet looks like it goes no where after it goes up, some banking.:)

Yea, I've done over a thousand miles in a day before, only to get where I was headed in a hurry. Last long one day ride I did was from Salt Lake City to Portland OR. It was great through Utah and Idaho at 80-85 average speeds but god I hit the Oregon boarder and 55 was posted. The state cops are lined up down the freeway to catch all those speeders coming in from Idaho. God, feels like your standing still after you hit Ontario Oregon on the boarder with Idaho.

Last week when we were in Kayanta, AZ we ran into 2 of the guys doing this run, they said they were in the top 50. One guy even had a spare tire and wheel strapped on to the back of his bike. They looked beat even then, and it was about 105 degrees that day. They were headed toward Monument Valley going to Rock Springs, Wyoming for the next check in point. Forgot to take pictures until we were about 50 miles down the road.

from Marathon Hiway 385 goes down to Big Bend State Park
from Alpine 185 goes into the middle of Big Bend State park.
And lower Hiway 170 goes around the Rio Grand river, you want to make sure you call and Hiway 170 is open.
170 goes over to Presido from Terlingua, this is a killer ride.
You can't ride all of Big Bend State Park in a day.
And unless you go in the HOT summer, take leather with you.
In the middle of may it can be 48* in the morin and 85 during the day or hotter.
Go in the Spring or fall. But the place is full of bikers all year long.
And they have the Terlingua Chili Cookoff on a Rench.

I want to make this one year, its really big, its the grandaddy of all chili cookoffs
    http://www.chili.org/terlingua.html

There is a motol down one of the ranch roads that you want to stay in.
You can git up on a hill there and see for miles and miles into Mexico
