I got your EZE jet....cool....also replaced the O ring washer and spring. Followed directions but even though I closed the jet completely, it didn't affect the idle at all, so I left it 2.5 turns out. Hmmmmmmmmmmmmm...I'm thinking that the Slow jet may be too large? ( 45 ) The main jet is a 180. Hey...it seems to run great.
    .020" over 80" EVO....S.E.Heads....flat top pistons (9.5 compression) EV51 Cam...single fire ignition...
Is my jetting in the ball park? Any suggestions regarding the EZE jet adjustment/slo jet size?
    Thanks
    Carlos

Actually, the main jet is a 185. Yep....looking at it.

I think your jetting is dead on. If you are not experiencing any coughing as you roll in the throttle from a stop your mixture is probably good to go.

What about the EZ Just....like I said, I can bottom it out, and there doesn't seem to be any difference. I have a tach, so it's easy for me to detect any changes.

What is your idle rpm when making the adjustment? Sometimes having a pilot jet that is too large can make it difficult to find that stumble but I wouldn't go lower than a #45 given the specs you described earlier.

I keep my idle at 950 to 1000 RPMs.....But like I said earlier, it runs great!
I closed it down to 2 1/4 turns out and still no spit or sputter when I twist it on.
    Thanks

Did have the same problem with my EVO - But like the man says if it works then your good to go. Run it a couple hundred miles then check it again - seems like; on mine the further I ride it the better it runs.
Did you also install a V-DUCTOR ? If not you should check out the thread on it and I think you will be ordering one soon - great little gadget at a good price that puts some zing in the engine on the cheap.

I think that you did the right thing by only going one up on the jet. Harley Performance only recommends going up 1 at a time. Did you put a whole carb kit in also? I had a similar problem with my 96 EVO, but my dead spot was right when I was rolling on the throttle. I found that my accelerator pump was sticking. I had to rejet because I put a new top end with pipes and heavy breather. Oh and the heads have been ported polished along with 10:1 compression.

When setting the mix screw be sure

    1) the engine has warmed up properly
    2) set the throttle stop screw to hold the throttle at approx 1500 RPM
    3) adj the mix screw turning it in until you hear the idle change stop.
    4) now turn the screw out counting the turns until the idle gets rough or the bike dies.
    5) half way between those two points is correct. So if it's 3 turns between the low (in) stumble and the high (out) stumble then turn it back 1.5 turns and you are done.

I went to check out the pics that I took of my bike before I ripped it apart, I don't have them on my hard drive anymore. So I will have to just send the in progress ones. I will post them tomorrow. How do you start a new thread anyways?
