I found a 1963 PanHead that looks to be in excellent shape. What do you think that bike is worth?? The research that I have done on this bike so far is telling me that there were only 100 of these made. I am thinking that this bike is an FLH because it has the signature FLH shocks in the back. I cannot see the other side of the bike so I do not know if this is a tank shift or a foot shift. Any idea's?

    Ahhhhhhhhh

Back in the was it the 70's. I had a 64 Duo Glide. It was a kick start, 4 speed tranny..
Yer in the years of suside cluch and tank shift. and kick start. Axed tanks.
Mine was still on the 6volt system. I left it like that
A lot of this is in the era of mouse trap eliminators. Hand clutch, which was a lot harder and was tough on the cable not to mention the hand.
They've got a lot more vibration to them and make more noises than you could ever imagine.
And they was different in how they rode then to todays bikes.
I rebuilt mine repainted it and drove it for what seemed like forever.
It was done by some brothers that had a indy shop and the gears in the tranny had been changed alone with the cam.
It was one heck of a bike. At the time to me, the best bike ever build.
Mine was on a Swingarm frame.
Chucktx has the 1st year of the Electra Glide when HD went to electric start. And its up for sale. Been rebuilt, has disc brakes on the front too.

I'm gonna be of no help to you on what its worth.
Probaly according to what you want to do with it.
Got a buddy that has a panhead that he still rides. He has chopped it to.

Yer gonna have to ride to ride this bike. It jumps around . It ain't like riding my 64 model where you can git to over 100 with no problem.
This bike If I remember right is like a 56 model.
And the front end keeps you on yer toes.

I am not sure if it is the duo glide because I struggle with HD's letter designations. But I have seen the word duoglide in posts and in research.

If I remember right, Chucktx's is pretty much a standard FLH and is in stock configuration. It has been awhile since I have seen a picture of it though.

    Hey HarleysLR,

I am going to go take a look at it tomorrow and I will have pics then.

Not yet dude. I will when I am done with research and talking to you guys. I wasn't born in the 50's or 40,s like some so I have to do a little more research than others.

BTW, that is why I joined this forum is to lean, nor really to argue.

Oh yeah almost forgot, this bike looks nothing like ChuckTx's

Check this out Johnny. This was one heck of a bike back then.
I remember having to retard my distributor to git my bike to crank too.
It had a Old Linkerd carbuerator.
And there as plenty of room for yer chic on the seat too.

This bike has a kickstart, but I have also read that there was an option available for both. It is a 74cc engine.

I have just found more information on this bike and it is a DuoGlide. Thanks CB.

I took a look at that youtube vid and I saw that there was 65 with a shovel. I like shovels.

OK, so the flf stands for 'footshift" and the flh stands for "hand shift"?

In the days of the kick start you had to know which stroke you had the bike on.
Didn't want it to fall threw, jammin yer leg and knee. Or kickin back on you .

Here's how we used to have to crank bikes back then if you rode one of these models dude.

And pray you didn't have a cold natured beast like I had.

Dun forgot all that stuff on what stands for what dude.
Used to remember some of it.

Think I liked my Pan head as much or more than the shovel head.
My 64 Pan was the fastest pan that I ran against. And it outran a lot of shovels.
Don't know what the dudes at Riders had done to it.
I was busy workin a lot as a Locksmith.
Locksmiths are a lot like Blacksmiths back then.
