Just put my stage 1 on my 06 heritage. Installed a set of Rush slipons and Rejet with your kit and a S/E air Cleaner. I set it at 1 and 3/4 turns out on the idle screw and it seems fine. No backfire through the carb anymore. Seemed to warm up faster....the choke was pushed in a lot quicker. It had a 45 pilot and 190 main in it before and I put the 48 with the 195 main. Should I adjust it out to 2 turns? I thought I would ride it a little bit more and see if something chances . I also added the chrome top to my carburator.. It looks really good. Not bad for 3 hours work! Your instuctions were a piece of cake to follow. I was a little nervous on the carburator part.:puke: Thanks for your product and help!!!!!:D :D :D

Stage one for the second time

I bought my 2002 FLSTC in 2004 with Vance Hines long pipes and a stage one kit; I dont know who's it is. It has an adjustalbe needle and a #45 pilot and 195 main. The bike never has run as well as I thought it should, so I finely ordered the CV kit. I haven't put in yet; I plan to tomorrow. I am a little confused about the idle mixture. The directions say start at 1 3/4 turns, run it in till the bike stumbles and then turn it out 1/8 at a time till it stops back firing. It is also written that there is a sweet spot between 2 and 2 1/8 turns. is this usually where most end up?

Yes, you want to turn the screw inward just until the idle stumbles, then back it out until it smooths out. Another 1/8th turn outward and that should be perfect. Counting turns is just an alternative to trying to get a feel for the right mixture, which can usually be set to 2 turns as a safe starting point.
