    Hi there,

I am trying to import a 93' Sportster into France and I need to change my speedometer to one that reads in KMH. Harley no longer sell this. I will check on eBay but any one have any ideas?

    Thanks

Thanks, I've emailed a few shops to see what they come up with. It does drive off the front wheel. Found a guy that does decals for the speedometer glass but need to see if the French authorities will accept that.

the glass is removable.....maybe use the decal over the mph, then reinstall the glass.....or will this be inspected before allowing it into the country??

    Try a Canadian dealer...or Indy.

Thanks, I'll try Canada. I've asked my local dealer if they will accept a decal under the glass. Waiting for them to get back to me. I've also tried looking for aftermarket speedo to put on handlebars.

    Canada makes sense to me

Try an aftermarket, some are digital and can be set either way.

    Can I retro-fit a digital speedometer from a newer 96 bike?

Here are some of the replies:
I don't have access to any KPH speedos that fit that model. The speedo you have is mechanical, later ones are electric. If you set up a sensor, you can use the later version. You would need a sensor like PN 730-520.

Click on this link here http://www.dakotadigital.com/pdf/HLY-3011c.pdf to
see the manual. It covers the installation of the gauge.

You'll need SEN-6011 to convert the cable to an electronic signal. Or, the
alternative would be to pick up our inductive speed sensor SEN-6019 and
mount it so it can read the teeth on your rear sprocket. This will require a
bracket fabricated, but would eliminate the speedometer cable.

Getting the speed signal should be the hardest part of the installation, and
that isn't going to be too difficult!

Thanks again for your help guys. That's one problem solved, I hope.
