When out in the field with a big deer or elk hanging if I need to sharpen a knife I sharpened them by hand. No place to plug in a grinder.
Before going hunting I took them into a professional to sharpen them.

You should have more than one knife when in the field.
And unless you have to quarter a deer.
Why not cut it and let it bleed.
And bring it home and string it up and take care of the cleaning.

One of the wheels is a fine emery wheel.
you put a bevel on the blade with the emery wheel

And you put some rouge on the cardboard wheel and polish the bevel.
It comes off sharp enough to shave you.

Guess I'm ol fashioned...I still use oil and a two sided stone...Been using it since I was a kid...I also have a pretty good sharpening steel that works well too...

That is good, But you can use these wheels and the rouge and sharpen a knife in a couple minutes.
If you are happy with what you do great. I did it years ago.

I took several knives with me CB but always had my favorites and we always had more than one hanging. When we went out hunting we would be out for a week or at least 4 days, so we skinned em the same day wrapped em up in a game bag mainly because of the yellow jackets and hung em up high. Tanned my own hide once two, that was work.
