Ive just got my L's and went to the Harley shop-but nothing there LAM approved.
Reading around the 250 Cruisers are either under powered a tad small or have not been produced for several years so getting on ( a bit like me)
Im looking for a safe, good brakes, reliable, newish ride (even new) up to $10K
    Im 5'11 and 94Kg
Ill be taking my P's asap (3 months here in NSW)
What other options do I have, The Honda Shadow has the looks but very few reviews on it especially as it has been here for a bout a year now but it is LAM approved should I spend so much or is there a better option? Thanks for any advise.

Haven't owned one myself, but a friend rides a 750 Shadow. Black with red flames, nice looking motorcycle. He seems to be quite happy with it. We've rode together on a couple of poker runs & he didn't have any trouble keeping up with the Harleys. The 1100 cc version might fit you better. My personal experience with Hondas has been nothing but good. There's always the 883 Sportster too... My advice would be to shop around a lot before buying the first bike that trips your trigger, there's a lot of 'em out there.

if i understand, you are restricted to engine size. i would get the largest i was allowed for the best price. as stated, shop around, as i am sure there are other folks that were in your position and have gotten their larger permit and need to sell their entry level bike......

I had a 750 shadow and put 26,000 miles on it before selling it and getting a 1100 shadow which I put 62,000 miles on before selling it. It now has over 70,000 on it and still runs. Both are nice bikes and keep up to anything all day if not lead if ya want to. The 1100 has the forward controls and was alot of fun to beat on and took it well while being fairly comfortable if you did a couple hundred miles in a day. Could possibly look at a new super glide for 11-12,000 maybe.

Hey Steve, there is infact a Harley that is LAMS appproved, its a Harley
SS350 which is only a 1974. If your after a cruiser type bike try the yamaha's range like V-Star XVS650 Custom (i think this is LAMS approved, im pretty sure the virago and the V-star 250 is also LAMS approved but check ur state as im in SA. But hey u got the height right for alot of bikes, ive just spent the past 3months back and forth from adelalide tryin 2 find a bike that would fit a 6'5 frame, but the bike im learnin on will have 2 do till i get my P's
