May not be legal but it sure works. However I think wearing a shirt or vest that says Blocker on it, is a bit much.

Funeral processions are allowed to do this and so should large groups of bikers. It's just common sense and there are safety issues involved as well. Most of the large bike processions are charity runs. Soon enough there will be local laws on the books allowing or denying these runs, limits as to how many bikes will be allowed in a group, etc. For the time being, it's a touchy situation in many places.

Bike groups can get this privilege if they coordinate with the local law, but they don't deserve it just because they want to ride together. If riding in a big pack isn't safe without blockers, then either don't ride or accept the risk. Funeral processions are covered by law, and I've never seen where bike funeral participants were treated worse than car ones, so fair is fair.

I'm with ya Red. The "Club" (ex-HOG Chapter) I ride with still ride like a chapter. That is to say we have road captains and they block. I have mentioned to a few of them that I am close to that I personally believe that what they are doing are risking their lives for others and breaking the law. They shrug it off. When I was asked to be a RC I declined and was aked why. I answered the same and that I like riding with the "club" but frankly I don't need RCs looking out for me. The fact that they do is entirely up to them and I thank them for it all the time. There are many times I just break-off when I get uncomfortable with any situation. Amazingly, the cops here can't be bothered nabbing them.

I thought a little more about pack riding. Personally, I would never under any circumstances ride in one, not wanting to be part of a long line that holds up traffic and irks other motorists. I don't like having to wait for any type of procession, funerals included, bike or cage. If I'm on my bike I have to shut down my motor on hot days, then hope it will kick start when needed, otherwise, then I would be holding up traffic even longer.

Personally; I stopped riding with a good group of people 'cause I couldn't understand why they would risk dealing with: a drunk in a cage or road raged cager or someone maybe rushing to a hospital or such. What's the fuggin hurry? We'll catch up,we know where we're going. Large charity runs around these parts are poice escorted.that works for me.

The HOG chapter I ride with is very safety minded and respectfull of all other traffic. They ride in a staggered formation 2-3 seconds from the bike in front of them. It works, it's safe and we have a great time riding with them. If your afraid to ride with a Group don't then.
Our chapter has a very good class on how we ride as a chapter and all new members are required to take it. We don't cross over but fill the gap in front of them if a opening occurs if a rider has to leave the group.
If you ride with safety first it is not unsafe. We also don't block traffic to get out and if a car needs in for some reason we will allow the car in giving it room. That's how to ride in a group and if those you ride with can't do that then again don't ride with em.

    Not bright when bubba says
"F'm I'm going to the bar... and pulls that F350 right out in the mix"

Holiday or special parade or funeral, ok, call the LEO let them do it,
it's dangerous, they fly past you at 70 while you craw at 30"

Stopping doing those runs after one guy didn't even make it out of the parking lot 50
feet and took out another bike.

They seem to draw a lot of dumbasses...

I think there is a huge difference between where I live and where you live. We get out on the back roads and there just ain't a whole lot of population.

Yea know most people out here are I guess just different. We don't get a lot of that. When riding in a group out in the country or through the small towns groups, individuals, cars, kids and yep the seniors working in their yards will all stop and wave. It's kinda refreshing to see so many friendly people. You won't see that in the big over crowded cities like L.A.
