hey, so im buying a 2007 Kawasaki GPX250R with 12,500 K's from a bike dealership with 6 months rego n cpt insurance n all that for $3800, bike is in perfect condition besides maybe 1 stone chip, this is my 1st bike as ive only just got onto my provisional license n wanting to know what you all think as i have only a small amount of knowledge at the moment.

personally from looking around and comparing prices i think it is a steal :) (months of searching)

1 more question, with my age n skill insurance is threw the roof, anywhere between $1200-$2000 for 12 months and i am considering 3rd party with or without fire n theft, easy to steal a bike or not?

    thanks :)

Do they offer rider courses where you live? If so, can you get a discount on your insurance with a completion card? If you don't know, it would be worth looking into.

Can't help you with the bike info. The insurance company should be able to give you statistics on stolen bikes.

    Have fun and ride safe.

Very easy to steal a bike. Equally you are new to riding so it is easy to drop it, you probably will, so third party might be a false economy.

As stated, get some training, this should help with the cost.

    Good luck

Yeah, it's pretty easy to steal a lightweight bike, as unless it's locked to something solid like a streetlight pole, some strong fellas can pick it up, put it in the back of a pickup truck or van & be gone - that's happened with a Sportster & they weigh about 150 lbs. more than the bike you're buying. Bolt-cutters will cut a lock chain, etc. - if somebody wants the bike bad enough they'll get it & all you can really do is slow a thief down. That said, the area you live / ride in is the most important & if theft is not a real problem, and / or you've got safe places to park the bike @ home & the places you go to, the extra cost of theft insurance may not be worth it.

The bike looks good .How are the tires that would be one area on the bike to be in good condition. You only have 2 tires on the road so they need to be in tip top condition.

If they want your bike bad enough there going to get it. Forunantly for you your bike is not in the class that gets ripped often. But on down the road when you trade up to one of the hi dollar jobs anything that you can do to protect it will help a little in knowing you won't be walking home.
Enjoy the ride and be safe.:)
