Lifter bleed down time

All the directions that I've read about adjusting pushrods says that you should wait 10 minutes before turning the engine over to do the other valves and that you should check the bleed down by turning the pushrod with your fingers.

When I do this on my engine I have to wait 20 to 25 minutes before I can turn the push rods easily with my fingers. Does this sound like a good thing to have to wait longer than 10 minutes or a bad thing to have to wait that long for the lifter to bleed down.

Anybody know?

I would think that would be a good thing, having to wait longer to set the valves would be the only down side I could think of, It just means your lifters and lifter bores are in good shape. Todd

I suppose your right and I hope your right. It was very aggravating waiting so long and wondering if I didn't have the valve on the low side of the cam or not.

It started up and idled fine last night. I didn't run it too long, just long enough to run the oil through it. After I get the rest of the bike together I'll start the break-in procedure.

In case you where wondering, I put on SE heads and had the cylinders honed and new pistons fitted.
