I am a newbie around these parts, but I thought it would be good to introduce myself as briefly as possible. I live near the TN / KY border and most of my riding buddies live in TN. One of them in particular has taken it upon himself to start a website about us, but welcomes everyone. It is called Tennessee Backroad Bikers Home Page. We ride mainly in the hills and hollers of KY and TN, but have taken some wonderful eastern trips which are somewhat documented in the website. When we meet other riders when we stop, we usually strike up a conversation, take a few pictures and Larry will make a post regarding it. If you ever travel eastward, he may have some info of value to you on the website. If you visit, tell Larry that Bruce sent you. We would love to have many of you visit.
Since I have been reading several posts on this site, I'd like to comment on the friendly atmosphere I have discovered here. I originally was in search for tech questions, but now am discovering a whole new neighborhood.
Thanks for allowing me to join.

Well, I'm the skinniest guy that people say looks like a goat.
The best photo of me is on the page that says "Previous Ride Photos" page 3.
I am the dude in the orange shirt.
    Thanks for looking.

I plan on a lot of Tenn. trips in the near future.

in my favorite. My son has to go down somewhere in Tennessee to a Federation dojo in a couple months for his National belt testing. I was trying to find out how far way it was after I found out where it is!!! plus my wife has family we visit in Tennessee but it is in Lafayette and Nashville.

    Nice!

We plan on dropping by Deal's Gap on the way back from Daytona, but that's as far north as we'll get. I'm wondering if we're being too optimistic about the weather that time of year. Is it a good chance the weather will be decent in about 8 or 9 days?

Funny you should ask. Nearest Starnes to me is 40 miles. Well worth the ride too! I grew up on Starnes BBQ. The owner was one of my Sunday School teachers and his nephew was one of my best friends. Also, I live in Murray where the Racers abide.
Sorry to be so long in reply. Been too busy all day getting ready to leave for Florida tomorrow to pick up my new to me "98 Road King.

Been to Deal's Gap a couple of times myself. Weather is very iffy this time of year. You may have the Gap to yourself for a couple of days. Good luck.

Grew up in central KY, have some WKY friends, they don't ride from that area.

Ever get to the twinkling star in Paducah? Spike Stacy was the owner at the time and the significant other of a friends sister. Used to drink too much there on breaks from UK....
