Ok just got back from lunch and got to deal with the daily dose of idiots in cars. Co-worker was telling me as I punched in that one about hit him the other day. Looked both ways, pulls out and hears a horn and there is a truck about 2" off his bumper. Said he was wondering where did that guy come from.

That got me thinking. This is bad enough in a car but on a bike it is suicide. Ok we all know the dangers of not paying full attention. Then I got to thinking the common excuse for running over a bike is "I didn't see it". Now not being one to think low of the human race  , I wonder how many times it is the truth and how many times it is just the common answer.

That sux, hope he recovers completely and quickly.

A co-worker and I had a similiar time. We were in the company car and stopped at a red light. A jogger comes down the sidewalk on our right(headphones in). The light turns green, Kenny starts to pull out and BOOM, jogger on the hood. The dipsh*t cut the corner and turned right into the side of the car. If looks could kill Kenny and I both would be dead as doornails. I simply pointed to the green light and flipped ol boy off. He turned looked at the light and back at us, this time his face was brighter red than the light had been. :roflmao: Kenny and I still laugh about that to this day. I do love the look on people's faces when they realize they jumped in VERY DEEP water with both feet before testing it.

A buddy of mine in Cut Off Lousina got T-Boned on his 08 Ultra.
It wasn't bad, it messed up the bars on the saddlebags and pushed the guards into the fender from what I understand. But all in all it wasn't bad, MY buddy wasn't hurt and the other dude is paying for his bike repairs.

I like to hear when it wasn't bad.

Face it you have to look everywhere, the folks in the cars just don't see you and they don't yeild right of way.
Its up to you to yeild right of way and look at everything all the time.

Remember yer riding the edge !

If it was the same guy that tried to run me down, he took 2 lanes just before I had what was supposed to be my turn to pull in; the a-h*l3 must have been doing 80 at the rate he passed the car I was about to pull next to. I got lucky that I am still just scared enough to check, over the shoulder besides behind and next to me. That FLHS can dance.

Dude, glad that FLHS can dance and it was just a near miss. How long before that smell and stain left your saddle? :D

Funny thing, I have become a much better (well maybe more curtious, don't know about better LOL) cage driver since getting the bike. I don't assume anything anymore and always look now. Just wish more folks rode so they would know too. Then again a lot of these crotch rocket cadavers I see doing the stupid crap on the bikes makes me wonder about the rational behind wanting more folks to ride.

This past weekend I was riding in a upper scale neighborhood around my area. One of the snoots actually gave me a break. My buddy went through the sign with me stuck as the snoot crossed the hill, they stopped and let me stay behind my buddy. Guess not all snoots are so bad LOL. Might have been one of those RUBs :roflmao: .

Better start spittin out yer gum before you leave the house on yer scooter.

Some of us play with our radio, and some of us zoom in and out on our GPS. Both are distractions, I agree.

My last tetnus shot was Mother's Day, May 14, 2000 at about 1:00 in the afternoon. Why do I remember it so well? Because that was when I was bouncing around in Dunkin Donut's parking lot like a soccer ball after getting T-Boned by a lady who just HAD to take a left turn out of one parking lot (right turn only BTW) to cut across traffic to get in to buy an effing cup of coffee! Unfortunately I was in the right travel lane of the road she was cutting across. Her excuse...................I didn't see you. It's kind of tuff to see when you've got the "Doing Things is What I Like to Do" song stuck in your head and you're having caffine withdrawels. Trust me, there is no such thing as HAVING the right of way. The right of way has to be yielded to you. Sure I won the law suite but I still limp after sitting a while and my shoulder hurts every morning.

I've developed sort of a third eye since then. I've had people look right at me and STILL not see me. At least my daughter learned something from it. She just got her license. She almost pays attention TOO MUCH if that makes any sense. She won't get anywhere near a bike on the road. Maybe I saved a life or two. lol.

Anyway. keep an eye out at the coffee shops, burger joints and bars. People have more important things to think about besides looking out for dumbass bikers who are stupid enough to be on the road. (Sarcasm off)

As long as thinkin' doesn't hurt it's okay:D . I like to think that I am more aware in my cage because of ridin' my scoot. It's a Damned if ya do Damned if ya don't situation, as long as 4 wheels are bigger than 2, we may as well bring a knife to a gunfight. It is damn hard to not go off on a cage driver who has no concern for us. Ride safe and aware.
