I was having this problem a couple of years ago....no low beam/spotlights( but then they would start working again), high beam works fine. Mech found the plug melted and replaced it. Now it's happening again, but I remember someone else saying it could be a low beam regulator... or something like that....that's the problem, I can't remember the answer they gave me. Just trying to find something else to look for in case I take the fairing off and the plug is fine.

Also take a good look at the wiring - could be somethings rubbing and causing a short.

How about a low beam relay instead of regulator....sound familiar to anyone?
