Memorial Day has long been a day to gather around with family and friends, enjoy the beginning of summer, or for those who ride the chance to soak up some fresh air on a leisurely ride. This Memorial Day weekend I would just like to say thank you to the men, women, and their families who have made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom. It is because of them that all of this is even possible.

    THANK YOU

In our little restaurant here in Hobgood, there is one entire wall dedicated to our veterans living & dead. Each has an 8x10 photo and a plaque telling where and when they served. On the oposite wall, there is a large painting of the Viet Nam wall. We take our vets seriously around here.

Amen! It's a pleasure for me to be with 3 of my sons in AZ. All 3 served in the desert a few years ago. I thank all of our men and women who served and are serving for my freedom. I especially thank my contemporaries who served in Indo China! WHooRaah!

Yesterday when I was out riding I was on some back roads heading to my home town... I saw this bike head the same way as I was going....All of a sudden I saw hi m starting to slow down and finally come to a stop, the road was closed.. I finally got up to where he was and we spent some time on the side of the road talking about our bikes. He mentioned that was on his way to get a video call from his boy who is in Afghanistan...We talked for about half an hour and as I was leaving I asked him to say thank you to his boy for what he was doing......:D

Of all the towns and cities that you are from - How many of you have a parade to honor the men and women who served?
This year we had 150 bikes in our parade to honor the service of these brave people both living and dead, with a memorial service held at the end and several groups were also going to other events after to show their support.
Two drill teams from the state and county LEO's also were invovled. Along with several civil war groups and ROTC included. Three of the local high school bands also came. The turn out was even bigger this year than last and made me feel proud to be part of it.

No parade here but my neighbor down the street had Old Glory attached to his Heritage and was tooling around town on Monday. Then headed out to parts unknown . . .
When "The Beast" is finished, we will burn some gas together.

No big parade here either, but they did have a ceremony at the War Veterans Memorial Park that we have here in town. A lot of people were there.
