Mikuni carb issue

    I have a mikuni carb on my 98 heritage classic. I had left the fuel on for about 1/2 hour before I remebered to shut it off and had fuel dumping out. Now whenever I turn the fuel on it dumps straight out of the line attached to the bottom of the carb/bowl. What can I do? I tried tapping the bowl incase the float was stuck but no luck there. And it really pours out!!! Help!!

    Take off the float bowl and check the seat. Sounds like you've got some dirt holding the valve open.

    This is probably a stupid question, but can I remove the bowl with the carb on the bike or should I take it off....

    the bowl should remove while still attached. you may want to check to see if any of that fuel drained into the crankcase also......not good to have it there.

    If it was dumping fuel for a 1/2 hour, and if it was on the sidestand you should drain and change the oil, you really don't want to take that chance.

    Sounds like a stuck float, yes you can remove the bottom on the bike but it's a bit harder, you'll just need to work at getting the allen up in the screw to remove it on the bike but it can be done.

    JMO Turn off the fuel, remove the throttle and return cable, disconnect the choke cable. and pull the carb off.

    clean out the float bowl and the jets,

    Or you can remove the screws from the bowl drop it and check the float.
