Do the research and check the cam manufacturers to see what their cams are designed to do. From your description, a cam that builds torque quickly in the lower ranges and that gets good power from 2000 to 4500 rpm will pull you and the wife much better than a tall bumpstick that doesn't start to produce power until 3500 rpm and get better at the top end. If your not looking for a hot rod but instead a good solid touring motor, the EV27 is a good cam. Woods also has a good torque cam that builds great power down low.

I would agree it's more about cam timing (when events happen) than max lift, the biggest mistake made in upping performance is over camming the motor,

I'm guessing you're staying 80 CUI right? If so than that 600 will be a waste unless you have a ton of head work done, really bump the compression and have the intake and carb bored out probably need a Super E or Mick 42 for that motor.

You can make good useable tq with that motor without breaking the bank and it's only 80 cui so don't over do the perf stuff.

Woods w-6 is a good 510 lift cam that makes a ton of tq down low, and his cams like compression so the 10 to 1 or 10.5 to 1 setup will be good.
Have the heads worked to flow for the new cam. Don't over carb and put on a G, stick with a E or find a modified woods 40,5 Rebel CV or run a HD CV it will probably work fine with that size motor.

Now take the costs of rebuilding your 80, total everything, parts, labor, time etc.

Then see how much you could sell the 80 for to some guy needing a motor for a bobber project.

Then check on the price of an Elbruto 100, 113 or even a 96 inch replacement, should be in the $3500 range, subtract the recovered costs from the sale of the 80 and I bet you come close to the costs of putting together a mild 80. ANd you get a warranty, I think REvTech has the better warranty, and at minimum you'd have a 96 inch motor bike.
