I have a very old Yamaha 1100 (it's an 81) I was in the process of rebuilding when a plating place did me a huge disservice. they missplaced my muffler :fight: . by the time we found it a month latter is was badly rusted :gah:, the junkyards here have proved fruitless :banghead: . Where can I go that would be willing to make a custom header, muffler asssembly?

Mufflers are not rocket science, at least not serviceable ones. All you need for that bike (admittedly not a classic - I had a '79 XS750 many years ago, which is why I ride HD now) is a muffler on the end of some bent pipes. Check with your local muffler shop and see what they say. They (usually) can bend any pipe to your needs, and you could figure then on whether you want a modified pipe or a straight set. They should be able to mate it up to some sort of usable substitute muffler from a wrecked bike for a reasonable cost.

Would it be perfect for your bike? Probably not. If you had an '81 Harley you'd have plenty of options. But you don't, so just get something on that bike so you can get back in the wind and not start fires wherever ya go. It may not be perfect, but it sure beats watching other bikes from your cage on beautiful sunny days.

    Good luck!

P.S. - Next time, I recommend posting this in "Motorcycle Tech Talk", as it will catch folks' eyes better....

you may have to copy and paste to get it, you should be able to find an exhaust system for it. If you still have the header pipes you can pick up a universal muffler and make it fit.
    Good luck:devil:
