Mustang Seats

Thinkin about gettin a Mustang touring seat with adjustable backrest for my Heritage. Got arthritis in my lower back that flairs up occasionally on long rides. Sucks gettin older. Mustang claims to make their own foam and says it's superior to any other seat.

Anyone out there riding on a Mustang? Are they as good as they claim to be? Tried the gel pads and didn't care for it. Need some back support on the long rides.

I have a mustang pillow seat on my sportty,It's alot better than the original,that one is more like setting on a board.

I used to have a Mustang solo seat with backrest on my RK. It is a great seat and I especially love the way they designed the backrest. It is kind of low profile. I think they could have made it lower and it still would have given enough support.

It lasted for 5 years without a single blemish... all the way up to when someone stole it:angry: I want to get another one, but parting with another $475.00 is killing me.

I am sure you will love the seat, but, my a$$ still hurt after a long day. Like anything longer than 3 gas stops it starts to complain. I don't think anyone can design enough comfort for my bony ars.

My Mustang seat and backrest are great

I have a 2004 RK Custom and I have the large touring Mustang seat
with the backrest and it's good for 600-700 mile days. The backrest
really takes some pressure off of your lower back and gives you enough
support to help with the upper/middle back tension. I used to get sore
between the shoulder blades, but not any more.
It took me about 1000 miles to "break in" the Mustang seat. It's not soft
and cushy, but nice and firm. I have put about 41,000 miles on my bike
and the seat is just as comfy as when it was new.

I have the Mustang w/removable backrest on my FLHR and love it. I've ridden over 970 miles in one day a number of times with that seat.

OK, some may ask "why not a 1000 miles if it is so comfortable?" - and the simple reason is that I reached my destination.

With all your talk about Mustang seats I went over to mandmcycle.com to check out prices and I accidentally clicked on a solo seat with backrest (mustang part number 79100) and accidentally entered my visa card number and accidentally entered my home address and accidentally clicked on continue to checkout and continue again.

It’s all you fault. If my girlfriend finds out I spent $440.00 (this is shipping included) I’m a dead man. How do you live with yourself?

Oh well, I'd better just get on the bike and start ridin and never stop. That way she'll never see the seat. It will be under my butt forever.

i'm happy with the seat on my hertitage, but wouldn't mind a driver back rest can they be bought without buying the entire seat?

If it makes you feel any better, I just did the same thing about 10 minutes ago and ordered the Mustang wide studded touring seat with back rest and wide touring passenger pillion. Got it on ebay deliver to my door for $560.00. It is $700.00 direct from Mustang.

Ya have to learn how to get buy-in from the women. After visiting my doctor the other day, I informed my wife that based on the x-rays he took, the arthritis in my lower back is getting worst. :devil: I told her that he said it was very important to make sure that I had good support for my lower back when sitting for long periods of time. I also expalined that since I'm not the selfish type, and I wanted to make sure she will be just as comfortable as me on long bike trips, I added the wide touring passenger seat to the order. How could she argue with this logic?

Well anyway, for some reason she thinks I'm the best thing other than breathing and told me to go ahead and order the seat. So I said, are you sure honey, I can probably live with the pain. She said no, I don't want you having back problems. She's probably worried the honey-do list won't get completed. So if your girl rides with you, ya might want to get back on-line and order the passenger seat for her.

Anyone else interested in Mustang seats should know that even Mustang will tell ya that you should buy their seats from a distributor like J&P Cycles instead of the manufacturer. Mustang will sell it to ya, but they will just about guarantee their's will be the highest price.

RR, Your right there is a lot of better prices then buying it direct. It's their way of protecting the distributors. They are a good company if you talk to them at the shows they say they are always willing to remake the seat harder or softer for you for free anytime. You have to send it in though.
