    Mine's Ol' Red 'cuz it was made in the last century (1999 - kinda old today) and is red. I did it 'cuz the name helps so when I tell my wife I'm going for a ride on Ol' Red, she knows I mean the HD and not the dirt bike or my pedal bike. Helps her to know better where to look for the body if'n I go missing.

    Now as to Tiny Dancer, ya got me there. Can't fit that in my brain to make me comfy, but it is your ride. But I guess Rocket Man wouldn't work, either. Or Candle in the Wind....maybe Candle by itself? Yellow Brick Roadster? If ya called it Dancer alone, people'd think you thought yourself to be Santa!

    I give up..........maybe we should just ride the dang things and leave it at that:banghead::roflmao:

    I have to add from the subject title I thought you were gonna paint it in jungle camo and other stuff - thought ya meant Nam as in Vietnam!:roflmao:

    It depends how quickly I need to get somewhere and how slow it is to start. That's about the only time I start calling it names. Although I have referred to it as Hot1, but just because of the tag. And that's really Hot '01. Then some people say they think that is referring to the owner, to which I reply, "Common misconception". But I digress...:roflmao:

    Have not named mine either, thought about it but never have. She don't chug much just goes like a big bike should with that big 110 motor. If she don't start she gets called names, like you black SOB. But most times she treats me pretty nice and I pamper the hel1 out of her which I'm sure she appreciates. Some times I call her purdy when shes all shined up and when she is all dirty I call her a black dirty bitc& :D But I'm happy with her, keep her fluids changed so shes happy to. :)

    Oh, it got a name, It was real easy.
    After I purchased it and I was heading home, I found myself singing;
    Styx - The Best Of Times
    YouTube - Styx - The Best Of Times

    Quotes from the song;
    "Tonights the night well make history, honey, you and I"
    "The best of times are when I'm alone with you"

    And the fact that I am raising Bees does not hurt either.

    Say Hi to Honey.
    I had not thought of the song for years, riding makes me that happy.

    It's funny how I never know about some of these videos on youtube until you guys post links. Now I'm listening to "Babe" from Styx as I type this. :rolleyes:

    I don't call my bike "Babe" though. I just call it the "Road King". That name just fits better than anything I can come up with.

    And yes "I'll be lonely with out you"

    Getting Back To The Purpose Of The Name. Not That I'm A Elton John Fan. It's The Wife, So I'm Forced To Listen To It Every Now And Then. The Song Tiny Dancer Came On And With A Few Drinks. I Came Up With The Idea. So You Can Inturpet It Into Bike Terms. The Sporty Being The Smallest Harley, Dancing Down The Highway.

    I think you just need to hang on better on bumpy and windy days and you might not have that problem. ;)

    YouTube - Elton John - Tiny Dancer (live 1971)
    Does seem to be a traveling song,
    Quotes out of order form the lyrics;
    Ballerina, you must have seen her dancing in the sand
    And now she's in me, always with me, tiny dancer in my hand
    Jesus freaks out in the street
    Hold me closer tiny dancer
    Count the headlights on the highway

    Well, I am late as usual on this conversation, but I do name all the vehicles that I own. SUV: The Rumbler (dual exhaust, and it does rumble), Boat: The Defiant (love the way the British named ships--). The Defiant is a 14' fishing boat with the "Flying Tiger" teeth painted on the bows. The Sunday Rider is just the "Jag", and the ranch pick up is Sam.

    There are other vehicles with names (company trucks), but the only name I really care about is the one for my bike. It is the Big Breather. And all that came about becuse I put on pipes, race intake, and lots of carb mods. It is also an 883 with a 1200 kit on it.

    Definately a Big Breather.

    Hmmm, I thought this thread was going to be about sending your bike to Vietnam…dumb me.

    No… My bike does not have any name, except when I’m busting knuckles on it.

    Namin stuff vs discovering it's name

    Every bike I ever loved had a name. Not that I sat and thought about it. Just happens. My present ride is Moulon Rouge. The day I picked her up and rode her home, she just sort of let me know. I guess a lot of it has to do with the connection ya have. To me, bikes are like horses. The only time I ever had the same sort of feeling as I do when I ride my bike was back in the days when I rode the fourlegged ones back in West Texas. But then to me I always figured most bikers would have been cowboys in another era. Not that I am the only one to see that connection.
    Tiny Dancer is a nice name. Whenever I hear that tune I think about a girl I had back in the '70's. 5 foot nothing and could do a pole dance that would make a deadman jump up and stuff money in her G-string.

    Well I be's off to Nawlins tomorrow for Mardi Gras.
    Ride Free, ya'all

    What's in a name

    Guess if that name works for you! Wouldn't run out and get it air brushed on the tank anytime soon though!
