I'm going to be putting another fuel tank on my 06 hert. I can get a streched one for about 100.00 less with USAtwins. Problem; they are saying 84 and up for fuel injected. when i look at the tank on the internet, i'm not seeing that hole in the middle for the fuel pump. usatwin offers no advice. my question is; if it says fuel injected 84& up can i assume there's really a hole? Did harley ever put the pump anywhere but the tank?

they probably mean that it will fit the frame, however you would most likely have to do modifications to the tank to make the fuel pump fit...I used to work at MID-USA in the tech department and thats how a lot of the sheet metal was, it will probably fit the frame rail, but not neccasarily be ready to accept the fuel pump... but I'm guessing. Stock look is cool anyways save that money and do something nasty to the engine... head work, cams, exhaust, big bore or stroke it... heh heh heh

I would have made the assumption that the hole was already there if they claimed it was for FI. Then again, everyone knows what happens when you assume :p

Why not just get tank extensions welded onto your tank and fit the to frame of the bike, then paint the old tank and extensions.

    Cheaper, and custom fit. JMO

You might check around on ebay for a used EFI tank, you might find one in the correct color or, one you can stretch easily for a lot less than a new tank that way you'd have the efi fittings, and pump mounts internally.

    Be a lot easier. JMO
