I just bought my first fuel injected Harley a 2006 roadking classic. It did come with a stage one air filter kit from Harley itself and true duals , so I assume it has the stage -1 tune/reflash from Harley. I heard that it is pretty broad overall tune.
I was wondering since I have the stage-1 tune, can I add slip on mufflers?

Don't assume that. But if it isn't popping, it probably does. Slip-ons should not change it that much unless you go for near straight no baffle types. Are you sure it doesn't have a tuner on it? Could be under the right side cover or sometimes under the seat. If it does you might be able to change it's map if you start getting popping on deceleration.

Thanks, I will look under the seat tonight. I don't get any popping right now at all, but I still have the stock mufflers, so they look like stock anyway.

Your saying if I don't hear any popping on decel then I might be ok? I'm looking into tuners right now also. I found one my buddy has for $70. It's the Vance and Hines fuelpak for $80.

Skip the V&H, it is a bolt one one part solution and unless you run their stuff the map may or may not be close.

A powercommander is a better option, as it has many options that can be fine tuned, check with www.fuel-moto.com for your solution, it's a bit more money but will offer you more selections and maps and you can buy just about anyones pipes or filter combo, plus further down the road you want to add a cam, it's as siimple as upgrading the map, with the V&H you can't and you'd have to buy this anyway making the V&H a wasted purchase,

Plus fuel moto has access to many dyno maps and will work with you
to come up with a good match, and if you have a local tuner with a dyno
you can build a custom map...

The only problem with tuners are they are an added device. It's much better and cleaner to rewrite the map in the ECM. And added to older bikes brings in what is called a parasitic drain to the electrical system. Some bikes affected more than others.

I'm not sure what devices are available that rewrite the ECM but I do know they are more expensive. Especially those that record how you ride and offer suggested maps. Those give you the best new Stage 1 other than a custom dyno. I have one that rewrites the ECM but it's a take our map and like it just like the Harley Stage 1 but is better.

I still had to reinstall my XIED's to get it where I like it with more fuel. There are others. I'm just not up on them. I think I remember Dyno-Jet is one and Fuel-Moto is great to work with.

Don't know why I was thinking evo

Other option is a SERT or TTS Mastertune, which I prefer, it's a software
solution that allows you to program the ECM, there are no add on parts.

TTS and SERT provide tuning modules with the software, and you can dyno
    tune them as well..

XIED are a Joke. And they are not a tuner.
There is a Thunder-Max which is a replacement ECM with Auto Tune. And it can tune while you ride.
And thee is the Power Vision which is a flash tuner. If you get auto tune with it.
It can build a data link so you can reflash the Stock ECM.
I would rather have a Power Vision than a Power Commander.
But it can't auto tune and flash the ECM while you ride like the Thunder-Max.

Fuelmoto carries both, And when you buy a tuner from them. They get free tech support .

    I have both.

Now just where did I say XIED's were tuners. I said I was not satisfied with the Stage 1 and added XIED's back to add fuel. And that is all they do. Straight across the board. More fuel. That is all. Where did I say they where tuners? They are not. Give me a break bucko!!!

Talk to Jamie at Fuelmoto...He sent my PC III with a pretty good map based on the information I gave him...Put on a dyno for the final tune...Have not touched it...Runs great...

Well you have a 2006 model and I would not convert it to a carb. If you know what your going to do to it and you want a very good tuner that you can go to most any HD dealer if there ever was a problem get the SERT. I have had the SERT sense 2003 on bikes and it works great every time. I have swapped out mufflers and never had to have it retuned. I know that several here especially CB will disagree but I don't have to play with mine, make it learn, connect up a computer. I simple ride the bike.
If you tear your bike apart put cams, pistons or all that other stuff in it then you would need it retuned. If you just plan on simply riding it are satisfied then the Sert works great.
