Perhaps I'm getting impatient waiting for the local dealer to make good on my Ultra Low, Its been 2 weeks at least. The Ultra lows are slow in being turned out I guess. None of the 7 dealers I've contacted even have one. Only one dealer has an Ultra Limited Low.

Heres the quandry in which I solicite and welcome input, food for thought for me to think about. Do I pull the trigger on an Ultra Limited with the cooled exhaust valves or be patient till the local dealer gets the Ultra Low? I'm at least heading up to a dealer 90 miles north when I get out at 8am tomorrow to at least sit on and look at an Ultra Limited Low. Just to get a feel for it.

The Limited Low has everything already on it that I'd add if I got the Ultra Low except water cooled exhaust valves. Not feeling the water cooled exhaust valves.

I love everything about my 2012, the color(hot pearl white), she's set up perfectly w/ XM,GPS, fairing bra, arm rests, windshield bag, tour pac rack, inside tour pac lid storage, everything for me except I'm 5'7. My knees aren't as bent as I'd like them to be, especially 2 up and packed. Makes stops interesting and challenging.

I usually don't care about opinions and usually I'm pretty thorough about researching a decision and weighing all pros and cons but this has been a difficult thought process.

Any food for thought opinions are welcomed and appreciated.

OK. Here's my 2 cents. 3 weeks ago I bought the last '14 Ultra my local stealership had. It had everything on it that I wanted. The options list was-Anti=lock-linked brakes period! Drawbacks I see in the Limited are: water cooling, the loss of storage in the lowers,C B radio(who uses CB anymore?) ,$900 gps(the radio performance is equal to each other). To put windshield bags on either negates the fairing vents(so the storage in the lowers becomes a big deal to me). I understand H-D sells a rear lowering device. if that's true, If I were you I'd go with the Ultra and just add the rear lowering. P.S. I"m extremely happy with my Ultra.

Thanks charlie, how tall are you by the way?

Thinking out loud here....so skip the Ultra Limited low and go with Ultra Low? I can always add CB if it means that much to me and as a can generate some expendable cash down the road.

I am really not cool with the water cooled exhaust valve set up. I don't use the lowers much except when 2 up on a trip then that space in the lowers is a premium.

Because I am only 5'7 I prefer the factory 2015 Ultra Low set up rather then mess with the suspension on my current bike. Things from the factory are usually better then what is done afterwards. And the 2015 has the beefier front end and steering dampner which is important to me as well.

Thanks again charlie you helped me cross the Limited Low off the list. I really not feeling the water cooled deal..

No wonder you like your Ultra. I would too if I was 6'4. You go boy!

5'7 is damn near a midget.

    I know the feeling.

I am pretty sure that my home dealership still has an Ultra Low on the floor. Interested?

The water cooled heads are no big deal. They do work and I've noticed it runs cooler. When I traded in my old bike and cleaned things out I opened the lowers and discovered that the items I had in there I had never used. I do have the bags that attach to the bars for the side bags and that's where I kept my CD's so now I have extra space in those. Plus the one on my left is where I carry a water bottle when traveling. Out here we use the CB a lot and it works really well when traveling with someone else who has one. CB communications is still very useful for me and glad I have it.
Our dealer here does a lot of dealer trades if they don't have the bike in stock.

I if I did get the ultra low I would add CB because I use it a lot as well. I kinda feel that the water cooled just possibly equates to one more thing that can break down. I guess you would just have air cooled heads?

I guess your right if you lost all the coolant in the heads it would just be air cooled then. One thing for certain probably won't need water cooled heads in the winter where your at or even where I'm at.

No I don't think so. Don't forget that there has to be some kind of water jackets, casting, that serves to contain the coolant around the exhaust valve area. That being the case, I would bet that the extra metal would insulate and retain heat allowing more to build up.

They would then become air cooled tubes around the heads.

Currently zeroing in on a brilliant silver pearl ultra low w/ 6.5 touch screen. Put a 500$ deposit on one. I'll ride up Thursday and if it looks as good as it does in the photo and feels good we'll close the deal.

Thanks for all the input. Almost got sucked in on mysterious red and blackened cayenne sunglo limited low...whew,lol.

I really like the reds except in my club. every single '14 & '15 in the club is a red. Looks like a fire brigade on club rides! One guy just got the new road glide in a beautiful blue. Nice. I like the red a lot but I am partial to the silver (I wonder why?).

Closest I could get to hot white pear or artic white. The pearl gray catches my eye pretty good. Still yet to determine my bikes value. He is throwing out some decent
numbers though. My bike is pretty, set up nice. Hoping for the best on that.

Thought you were buying an Ultra Low in Black, but now going with Silver? Is the silver one in stock and the black is not? If you really want black, I'd wait. I once had to wait almost 6 months for a 4 wheeler I'd special ordered, and it was worth the wait. Rather be paying for my first love than a second option. Be patient, young grasshopper!

Stick with the black as the grey reminds me of the Navy never could warm up to silver or grey on a Harley. OlBill bought a new 14 in the grey, he likes it. I Have been partial to that two tone red for many years on bikes, just me. Every body has their favorite colors for bikes but I would stick to what you really wanted.

You're absolutely right. I wanted Vivid black only because it was the cheapest color and I initially thought my payments were gonna be jacked. But to my surprise after crunching numbers and a decent trade in value with a chance of going up a little more the payments maybe another 40$. My current note is way under a 100$. That Brilliant Silver Pearl really caught my eye. Near the color of my first HD back in 1981.

While I thought my 2012 was my last bike, the chance at owning a more manageble and 2" lower Ultra was too tempting.
