New carb for flstc

    what else has been done to the bike. what else are you planning on doing to the bike??

    Don't do it, stick with the CV. The CV is a better all around Carb. With S&S gas mileage will suffer, performance will not improve a whole lot. But they do have a cool air filter cover. Again JMO.

    The main reason SNS carbs suck gas is they are always tuned rich, people setup the carbs wrong.

    If you don't have it get the manual at S&S Cycle Home Page - Welcome you can download the E manual and it shows you how to tune it.

    If you get low mileage then it needs to be leaned out.

    You just have to get used to how to tune it.

    I've recently replaced my SnS on my 94 sportster with a CV and there was a few things that were different on mine. The throttle cable was a little different in length and I had to get new cables. Same for intake, not just the flange but the location the carb ended up in was different. When I went to the the CV I did find an air breather just like the SnS cause it does look cool.

    Kind of a long link but it was one I found on ebay. I tried to get a picture off my bike with a flash and the chrome dispersed the light and it made for a terrible pic. I'll wait for the sun to come back out.

    jammer, what size is the throat of your carb???? wondering if it is the same as a 88???

    I bought a 40mm CV. I could open it up the air cleaner and get some pics if you'd like to see the inside of it. Could also take measurements if it would help on anything. It does have a nice solid aluminum base plate and the element was better quality than my SnS was. Was almost expecting it to be somewhat chincy but I was impressed.
