New mufflers, do I HAVE to re-jet?

Hi, I just had new cam chains and tensioners put on my '02 FLHTC.
One of my pipes was cracked so I found a complete used system with only 5000 miles on it, which included aftermarket mufflers. The previous owner was told when he bought the bike used that they were Screamin Eagles (He went to true duels) . But there are no markings on them. But they are what I wanted to put on anyway for the louder sound. The tech told me I might have to re-jet the carb.
I guess my question is this....if it seems to run okay with more open exhaust and a stock air cleaner, can the engine be damaged if it is running lean. I assume if it was running "real" lean I would notice it. But if the difference from before is not that noticeable can the engine get hurt.
I am not into performance. My 2 main concerns are reliability and good fuel mileage.
    Thanks for your time,
    Rick

If you are still using a stock air cleaner, then just slip ons have very little, if any, affect on the air/fuel ratio.

Thanks for the reply Reese! I hope you are right!
Makes me a little nervous, don't want to cook the engine just because I love that Harley sound!
Maybe a few more would like to confirm.

You do not need to do a thing except put the exhaust on and ride it. If you change the air cleaner to a SE type then you would need some type of fuel mapping device.

Thanks a lot guys. It seems to be running the same as it was before. The only thing I am going to do, which I was going to do anyway is to adjust the idle mixture. I 'm getting pretty tired of it stalling at intersections when I go to take off.
    Thanks again,
    Rick

You can think of your engine as an air pump - you can't get any more out of it than it can take in & the air-cleaner is the limiting factor.
