I'm glad you broke the ice on this topic. I often wondered if some bikers on these forums were chefs or "food hobbyists." They often call themselves "foodies."

One of my passions is polishing Japanese laminate kitchen knives. I'd rather do those than any other form of my craft.

And like a guy who is proud of his Harley, sometimes I'd like to post a pic for any foodie bikers here.

However, it will probably bore the crap out of the general forum population. I hope we get some feedback. If you know anything about Alton Brown, he has a show where he interviews chefs about their restaurants while he and a couple friends tour the area on motorcycles.

Here's an example about bikers and food. This is a folder, just like a Buck 110, and it can do anything that your folder can do.

As this pertains to this thread, it is also a folded and welded Japanese kitchen knife, a santoku. It got so sharp and well made that it could also be used by a commerical sushi chef. I'm going to take it to my favorite sushi bar.

It would also be a great camp knife for a biker staying at Buffalo Chip.

Good idea - I plan putting a few from around here on the site and will also use it next summer when I make my long haul run.

I'm noticing more and more Harleys parked at upscale restaurants. You would expect to see dressers and GoldWings parked at the Ol' Country Buffet, but now I'm seeing more bikers at "upscale" places. For example, I saw a lot of returning Sturgis riders eating at places that don't serve liquor. The Oysy buffet here is packed on the weekends.

The fact that this thread has been posted seems to point to the issue that more and more folks want decent food. And strangely, I'm selling more kitchen stuff and fewer and fewer "taktikewl" folders.

The one sight that I suggested "ride to eat" so far far hasn't listed the places that I recommended. I wonder if it was because they were bikers bars? The Union Hotel and Jumbo Jims. Both are good places but definitely not your white table cloth and wine and cheese place. If you are ever in Maryland drop by the Union Hotel. Union Hotel Restaurant & Tavern You won't find many Goldwings but they are welcome.

Well, even if the place needs a coat of paint it seems folks want good food. Granted, the first time I went to South Dakota we stopped at any off ramp with a gas station and a McDonalds. We were trying to make time, and we just wanted cheap fuel and food and clean restrooms.

I'm not that young kid anymore. It would be nice to travel and eat without gulping TUMS. I'd like to know where good restaurants are listed.

Dude! You just entered it yesterday.

Like I say on my "add" page, entries are reviewed before being published.. I’ll usually get to it quickly, but give me a few days before panicking.

Besides, this is deer season... I've been busy trying to keep the highways safe for the coming year.

BTW, your entries are published now.

Roadfood.com is a great site. As are lots of other restaurant review sites. RideToEat.com has no intention of trying to compete with them. They are big commercial sites with ads and such.

We aren't a restaurant review site, we are simply a list of places that riders have identified as being a good place to ride to eat. With some nice interfaces on our map page (e.g. Massachusetts)
