I replaced my jets and hooked everything back up. I am not getting any fuel when I put the peacock on or res. I replaced the peacock value, and drained the gas out of the tank. The filter is clean and I can not get gas to come out of the peacock value. Any suggestions? I have an 06 Sportster 1200 Custom

This sounds like only part of the story. Why did pull it all apart in the first place? Most likely it is a bad spring in valve if it is a stock valve. Those are vacuum operated and won't release gas until you are trying to turn the bike over anyways or a vacuum is applied. Need more complete information..

I never had problem till I tried to start my bike after I changed the jets out bc I installed a stage one filter and was getting too much gas. When I tried to start the bike The first time, i think I forgot to connect the vacuum back from the carb to the peacock, so I wanted to make sure my filter was not blocked, so I drained the gas out of the tank and tried to make sure there was nothing stuck in the value. When I try to star the bike and hit the throttle no gas come out of the carb, also the tray is dry. I am not getting any gas in the hose. Any suggestions

Hi Alex, the problem is related to your petcock valve which is vacuum actuated. Without vacuum applied to the petcock no fuel will flow or fill the bowl.

I recommend removing the hose from the carburetor elbow inlet and placing the end of the hose in a container. Crank the engine and you should begin getting a stream of fuel out of the hose. When you stop cranking fuel will stop flowing. If this is not occuring then either the vacuum check valve in petcock is not working or the vacuum line is not connected from the top port of the carburetor to the petcock. Another way to test is to use a hand vacuum pump normally used for bleeding brakes or checking vacuum on a car. Attach the pump to the petcock valve and apply vacuum. This should make fuel flow.

Thanks I will try this. I will try a vacuum pump. I have everything connected to the petcock from the vacuum line from the carb. I have tried taking fuel hose off the carb and cranking and did not get any fuel come out the petcock. Do you think it is the filter?

If fuel is not flowing when cranking the engine you are either not getting vacuum to the petcock (cracked or disconnected vac line), or the petcock assembly is not functioning. Even a clogged filter would allow a small amount of fuel to flow.
