I did a stupid thing Thursday. I did a holeshot and was sort of half hearted about it. As a result, I went down. As far as my injuries: my elbow got banged up pretty good with a bit of skin missing and a couple of holes. My hip has a cell phone shaped bruise where my phone got crushed. My ego has a pretty good sized dent in it. And my head hurts from the old lady telling me how stupid I am.

The Fatboy: I snapped off a mirror, scraped up the front fender a bit, scraped up a pretty expensive air cleaner, dented the head light trim ring up pretty good and a couple of other minor scratches. I already fixed about half of it.

To top it off, a friend that was with me at the time works with me too so everyone at work can tell me how stupid I am too. DOH!:fight:

Live and learn I guess. At least no one else was around.

What the heck is a holeshot?

I hope that you are doing OK, bro. Especially the ego... everything else will heal. As for your friend at work, try bribery and then threats... if that fails, then perhaps he needs to be "taken out". :roflmao: :roflmao:

Jokes aside, take care and get that Fatboy back on the road. Cheers.

lol.....a "hole shot" is when ya go to take off real fast, maybe burning a bit of rubber, or a wheelie, or both........i bet the front end stayed down and the rear tire, smokin it's but off, swung around on him.......
hope your feelin better today maxpower!!!!!!!:D :D

    Chuck,

That's almost exactly what happened. I've done enough of them to know what to expect but I went into this one a little slow and when it came around I had just let off the throttle and it beat me to the ground like a redheaded stepchild. I usually have a bit more throttle in it and it slides right back into place but not this time. Plus it was a little late in the day so my reaction time probaly wasn't what it should be either.

Oh well. I already have it up and running again. It's just a matter of fixing a couple more small cosmetic things. Depending on how the front fender repair turns out, it may be time for me to dabble in painting over the winter. As far as I go, I already feel a whole bunch better and I can actually reach my mouth with a beer again so all isn't lost.

Peyts, Basically a holeshot is a burnout without using the brake, or in some cases your brain either.

    Peace guys.

Cool, got it. Never heard the term before... we just call it "a burnout without the brake". :roflmao: BUt you got to admit that a "holeshot" sounds like what the "other hand" is likely doing in Chuck's avitar. ;)

Live and learn. The ride is why we live. Good to hear you're relatively well off - just another lesson. Get back on her ASAP.

I can honestly say I have moments of insanity as well. Not to worry, comes with age, experience (or lack of), to much partyin', etc!!!:)

Well let's see if we can't figure this out..........

    I've been riding since I was about 15. Experience........Check

    I'm 40. Age...........Check

I've done about a million hole shots on this bike alone. Lack of experience........Probably not.

It was 11:00 PM on payday at the Sports bar three streets down from my house on a 90+ day with a couple of buddies I haven't seen in a while having not partied for quite some time. Hmmmmmmm. I think I may have found the key there mister key master!

NOTE TO SELF: GO HOME EARLIER.

No wonder my wife called me stupid for an entire weekend.

That stuff happens...Crankshafts are kind of fragile...What you did may have bent yours...It is bad to lock up back wheel with engine running...
If your gear drives get louder, or you notice excess tensioner ware on chain drive cams...BEWARE...
I try to get the bike moving first BEFORE I hit the gas.....easier on the drive train...GLAD YOU ARE O.K. !!!

Crankshafts??? I think he was only doing a burnout, not locking it up... unless my speed-reading failed to catch that :p

Ken, that was a copy and paste off another site (Harley Tech Talk) about an unrelated post entirely different then this one. He has trouble with continuity.
